Boardwalk Empire: Change Is Coming to Atlantic City in the First Full Trailer for the Final Season (VIDEO)

It's almost last call for HBO's Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire, which begins its swan song Sunday, September 7 at 9pm. And if the new full-length trailer is to be believed, Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) is not going to go quietly.

The shortened, eight-episode final season will pick up during the throes of the Great Depression in 1931, as change comes to Atlantic City and Nucky plots for a post-Prohibition future. Vincent Piazza's Lucky Luciano gets quite a bit of screen time in the promo below, but Nucky is still threatening faceless enemies. Meanwhile, Michael Shannon's Nelson Van Alden is on the run (and has his very own Most Wanted poster!) as Michael K. Williams' Chalky White is... well, see for yourself:

Are you ready to say goodbye to Nucky and the Boardwalk Empire gang? Place your bets in the comments on which of Atlantic City's unscrupulous characters will live to see the end and whose luck has finally run out (historical facts not withstanding).

So will there be some sort of catching up as to what happened during those 7 years? What did Chalky do? What happened to Gillian and little Tommy? Richard's girl?

Also in these time period it jumps over the fall of Arnold Rothstein came about. Anything into that? It sort of feels like they decided to end it before they wanted or that they were too ambitious in the earlier seasons and left too little time for the end.

The show has never truly disappointed and each season gets somehow better than the last( my favorite being he on with Gyp), but it seems like they left so much out. So much of what happened to Capone, Agent Van Alden. I'd rather have seen the transition instead of the end. Or at least that the first 2 episodes dealt with bridging that time.

Still I'm excited. Another great show going out forever.

Historically we know who survives... but its how they get thru that is enthralling... looking forward to a great season for a great show which has the guts to know when to toast goodbye (prohibition or not) ;-)

Paul Calderon is joining the cast. This should be good.

Hope it goes out on top. It will be hard watching without Richard, but this show has more than enough great characters to make up for that.

Well, I know Lucky and Capone are going to survive this season.

Everybody else... wouldn't bet a dollar on it.

So much story to tell, so little time to do it in. It's a shame we are only getting 8 more episodes when there could have easily been two more 12 episode seasons.

Looks like Lucky Luciano is going to be the main antagonist this season. It is going to be awesome! I wish it wasn't the last season though.

Such a great series, shame it has to end. But at least HBO is giving them a chance to end in a high note.
