Boardwalk Empire's First Season 3 Tease: New Year, New Rules, New Cast (VIDEO)

Boardwalk Empire ended its second season last December with a twist that proved among the most ballsiest in recent TV history. We won’t say what happened out loud, but feel free to watch what went down right here. Suffice it to say, the conclusion was a game-changer in every way for HBO’s prestigious gangster epic, and for fans desperate to find out what happens next, HBO is now offering a first taste.

The network has released a new Season 3 teaser, which brings us into the year 1923. “New year, new rules,” Nucky Thompson warns, and if history is any guide, the bootlegging trade will be getting uglier than ever. Cast additions include Bobby Cannavale as a Nucky rival and Justified’s Stephen Root as a former crook turned special investigator. But if you're a fan of Paz de la Huerta (anybody? anybody?), we're sorry... Lucy Danziger will not be back.

The acting and dramatic storytelling in this show is like nothing else on TV. They are true to the time period, have an excellent cast, and great direction. Really looking forward to the next season.

I prefer this to Game of Thrones. I think the writing, acting and cinematography is so much better on Boardwalk Empire.

Add to that, the fact I've read the ASOIAF books - the show holds no excitement or surprise, even though it is a fantastic show in its own right.

Boardwalk Empire is just pure quality from start to finish, and continues to improve with every episode.

I enjoy the show. Don't love it. But it's a good time passer. I agree that last season's finale was bold, inspired and risky. The show needs a new heart, though, because given what happened at the end of last season, I can't think of a single character left that I could root for or care much about. My fingers are crossed, though, as HBO almost always delivers quality even when a show is mediocre.

Finally got myself caught up with Thrones, maybe this is next? I just couldn't get into it before, but Boy oh Boy do I love Stephen Root.
