Hold the phone, you guys. Last night's episode of Bones totally caught me off guard. Immersing myself in spoiler alerts all day normally takes the edge off, as I haven't been surprised by a television show since I saw Fringe's Peter Bishop sparkle and shine earlier this season. But script author Kathy Reichs—the real-life producer, novelist, professor, forensic anthropologist, and person on whom Dr. Temperance Brennan was based—definitely pulled a fast one on me when she decided to have Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) get married—and in jail! I'm definitely all aboard the Hodgins-Angela 'ship. But marriage? Really? Wasn't it technically the result of egregious product placement?
The relationship between these two nerdy lovebirds has been more enjoyable to watch this season than the one between Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) because Hodgins and Angela are so dang open and honest about their feelings. It's so refreshingly mature! Plus, Thyne and Conlin have terrific chemistry and clearly they've worked hard over the last five seasons to develop a real connection between the two characters. The tension between Hodgins and Angela has been particularly noticeable over the last few episodes since Angela's pregnancy scare. As soon as they landed behind bars together, it was painfully obvious that they would reconnect. It was completely surprising, however, that they decided to get hitched.
I applaud the spontaneity and unexpectedness of the whole thing, especially because the informality of it didn't necessarily upstage Sweets's (John Francis Daley) proposal to Daisy (Carla Gallo) last month in "The Bones on the Blue Line." I also think that Hodgins and Angela's marriage will help Brennan and Booth make significant strides in their relationship (once they forgive the new couple for not inviting them to the wedding, of course). But I still can't help but think that a tiny bit of this show's magic is gone. Where will the Angela-Hodgins drama come from now? A real pregnancy?
What did you think of the episode?

Bones and Booth are so uninteresting. I love the chemistry with Angela/ Hodgins! Quite frankly, after these years, Bones really gets on my nerves for an"educated" woman!
I've been patiently waiting for Angela and Stanley to get back together and their elopement was such a sweet touch-very fitting for their characters. I strongly beleive that at some point Booth and Bones will get together-that is, after Bones totally lets go of all her logic and rational reasons why they wouldn't work as a couple. Opposites do attract and sometimes it can work out.
"the first thing i thought when they got arrested was \"please don\'t get married.\" and they did. and it thrilled my soul. now can brennan and booth get their *** together PLEASE? thanks." Oh I totally agree! The only characters that really caught me on the show were Angela/Hodgins and Booth/Bones. Now that Angela and Stanley are finally together where they belong, Temperance and Seeley need to get their mess sorted out, and hook up. I get so angry seeing Booth try to hook up with other women!!!
"I haven't been surprised by a television show since I saw Fringe's Peter Bishop sparkle and shine earlier this season." what? They pretty much made it obvious he was from the other dimension in the first season, then every episode in season two or so hinted slightly towards it.
I was very surprised and happy I didn't read a spoiler for this episode.
I loved it, and I think eloping is completely in character for the two. I'm still hoping Sweets and Daisy don't get married (I can't stand that girl), and Hodgins and Angela renew their vows in the season finale.
A great episode.
taking to long , finish this show fast and make a new one thats like this but with betthher cast
I was deffinatley shocked that they ended up married, but ever since Angela's break-up and the whole "I'm your guy," we knew that they'd end up back together, where they belong.
I liked this episode realy much. I didnt see that marriage coming. I did see them kiss eachother or something but after that realised that they didnt break up for nothing and called the kiss a mistake. So I was amazed when they even got married. Liked the case too..scary
This show was different because they didn't have the full "team" to work with. Usually it's brennan and Booth in the field but the lab staff was intact. Clark having to fill in for Hodges was interesting. Nothing measures the importance of a position than not having it. The Angela Hodges marriage will have some interesting fall out so the story isn't over yet. There is so much more to this. Angela's "father"? ZZ top's reaction to these new events. We haven't seen much of Hodges family. Angela coming to grips with Hodges and his multimillion dollar family empire will be interesting also. having a huge mansion to move into will solve many issues during the early phases. they both have rather "unique" family's that make some of the normal questions non issues.moreless
Finally!! I've been impatiently waiting for Angela and Hodgins to get back together since they broke up! So happy :) although I wonder what will happen next :) and what could Angela's real name be?!?
Stefanie Lee: Don't underestimate the drama of married life. There are so many questions to answer, so many things yet to explore, and the show not having a regular married couple on the scene before (as far as I can remember) - they can explore everything from fights about who does the chores at home, to where they are going to live (his place? her place? what furniture is kept and what leaves?) and whose house they will go to for Thanksgiving. There is a lot of drama there, and just because they characters have gotten married does not mean that the show's magic must be gone.
the first thing i thought when they got arrested was \"please don\'t get married.\" and they did. and it thrilled my soul. now can brennan and booth get their *** together PLEASE? thanks.
Good case, but soooo much time on the Angela/Hodgins thing has never floated my boat...
It was fine. It is getting older tho.. seing Booth and Bones dancing around each other every episode..
great episode indeed! I would have never thought that sweets was soo into witchcraft and stuff. Also I think this is the first case where the killer is a group instead of a solo killer.
I thought it was quite good. I knew that they were going to get married this episode a while ago but it was still a great scene. I like Hodgela as a couple but I still love B&B more.
I loved it.
