The X Factor kicks off this week with a world exclusive, as boy band Boyzone reunites for a tribute performance in honour of band member Stephen Gately, who died in tragic circumstances a year ago.
Boyzone will perform a world-exclusive tribute on The X Factor with ex-bandmate and judge Ronan Keating for the one-year anniversary of late band member Stephen Gately.
Gately died in 2009 when he suffered a pulmonary odema at his holiday home in Majorca, Spain.
Judge Ronan Keating will join his ex-band mates on stage in the tribute performance, which is also expected to feature a duet with fellow judge Natalie Imbruglia.
The competition has been heating up for Ronan over previous weeks, including his contestant, Altiyan Childs, proving his worth this weekend. After battling tonsillitis all week, the rock singer was still capable of hammering out Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer", which garnered ecstatic applause from audience and judges alike.
Ronan Keating was visibly nervous about Altiyan's performance after receiving much criticism for choosing the contestant to be in his Top 3, despite overwhelming support for some of the over 25s.
The X Factor studios were full of party tunes on Saturday night, with Amanda getting the crowd dancing to The Black Eyed Peas' "I've Got a Feeling", Mahogany taking on Britney's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and Luke and Joel had fun with "Hey Ya" by Outkast.
Now it's up to the Australian public to help decide who gets through to the next live show. Voting details can be found at www.xfactortv.com.au.
Tonight's show will see the two contestants ranked lowest by the public take the stage for a last chance to impress the judges. One will go home, while the other will remain in the competition to win a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.
Who do you think should get the boot from The X Factor?
