BrainDead: Watch the First Teaser for CBS's Goofy "Aliens in Congress" Series

The idea that politicians must be possessed by something destructive and foreign is as old as politicians themselves, but CBS'S upcoming summer series BrainDead has a specific theory: aliens!

The show, from The Good Wife creators Michelle and Robert King, posits that most of Washington D.C. has been taken over by alien bugs that eat their brains and control them like puppets. I repeat, this is from the creators of The Good Wife

Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as the yet-to-be-brain-eaten staffer who comes across the truth about the congressmen and congresswomen who have been infected, and things only get crazier from there, we assume. Aaron Tveit, Johnny Ray Gill, and Danny Pino also star, but we're looking forward to Tony Shalhoub as one particularly nasty Republican senator.

Here's the first teaser for the series:

BrainDead premieres Monday, June 13 on CBS.

Winstead closes the deal, and while the premise is a bit over the top, it really is the Kings running the show. I can imagine them idly pitching to each other while on set with The Good Wife, trying to come up with a realistic way to suggest that Congress had slowly been taken over by brain eating alien bugs, some way to sell the metaphor, when one or the other must of said "hell, let's just have them actually taken over by real alien brain eating bugs". Should be fun.

Bring. It. On.

It's great to see CBS "embrace the crazy". First Under the Dome, then Zoo (with motel science!), now this. Plus, this show had me at Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Is that really the tone they intended? Is that marketing material accurate? Yikes.

After Mercy Street and 10 Cloverfield Lane, I feel obliged to watch anything Mark Elizabeth Winstead appears in.

Seems like it's trying too hard to be nothing new.

I'll keep an eye on the reviews for a few weeks, & if it goes well, I'll torrent it & see if it hits or strikes

Alien bugs eating the brains of politicians? That might actually increase the politicians' IQs. I welcome this development.
