Cable channel Bravo scored its best ratings in its five-year history for the month of January. According to Nielsen Research, Bravo earned 314,000 total viewers and 188,000 viewers, ages 18-49 in January, an increase of 27 percent and 33 percent, respectively, from January 2006.
The network was propelled by food reality competition Top Chef, which earned an average of 2.1 million total viewers and 1.5 million viewers in the key 18-49-year-old demographic. Top Chef ranked as the number one food series on cable, and Bravo was the top rated cable network during Chef's Wednesday 10 p.m. time period. Top Chef's season two finale airs tomorrow, Wednesday, January 31, at 10 p.m..
Bravo also saw solid ratings for Real Housewives of Orange County. That series jumped up almost 200 percent over its season one ratings, to 1 million weekly viewers.
The cable net's Web site, Bravotv.com, scored 1.6 million unique visitors in January, up 52 percent over a year ago. The Top Chef section was the most popular area of the site, generating 700,000 unique visitors and 14.6 million page views in the month of January.
