The New York Post reported today that Joss Whedon, creator of the cult hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is looking to make a television movie about one of the other vampires on that series: Spike.
James Marsters played the vampire Spike, who had spiky bleached blond hair and fell in love with the show's title character, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar. According to the New York Post, Whedon recently told the online fan communtiy that he's been talking to actors and studio bosses about putting together a Spike television movie.
The Buffy cast has moved on to other projects, with varying degrees of success.
Gellar has starred in several films, including the Scooby-Doo franchise and an American remake of the Japanese horror film The Grudge, which grossed more than $110 million in the US. She has stated she has no interest in returning to the role of Buffy.
Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow on the show and also starred in the three American Pie films, is on the new CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
The Fox network has a trio of new shows featuring former Buffy cast members: Angel star David Boreanaz appears in the new forensic crime drama Bones, Alexa Davalos appears on the new show Reunion, and Nicholas Brendon plays a chef in the upcoming, edgy sitcom Kitchen Confidential.
Whedon is currently promoting his new film Serenity, which is based on the very-short-lived, big-budget science fiction series Firefly. Much like the original Star Trek, Firefly was canceled despite a loyal-yet-tiny fan base.

i woul absolutely luv to see them make another film,Tv series,anything with Spike,but they would have to use the orignal cast (unless some didnt want to,like Sarah then they could just not put her in it otherwise it would be weird if they tried to replace her,it has to have James Marsters in it though
i think whedon should include spike in another series of angel where the powers that be bring the two champions back from there slauter from the senier partners and send them to another dimension to rid that dimension of the senier partners' power i think that spike and angel can still make us laugh with there squabling but still be great and bring some new people or demons to the group from this dimension to form a new angel investigations
i would love 2 see a movie about spike he is my favorite buffy character and i miss buffy 2 bits but i dont want them to vring it back without the original cast members it wont be the same!
I think its a great idea. They dont need all the cast. It could be about his past. Thay could have alot of fun with the fact that apparently Billy Idol stole his look! I reckon it would be a laugh riot! He is a really well developed character, and a back story would fill in some holes that exsist in his story.
I Love Spike, but personally I'd prefer it with Buffy in the film as I'm a big Spuffy fan.
i'd like to see this happen. i'd also like to see spike get a spin-off.
I miss BtVS and Angel so much and I'd love to see anyone of the cast again. So please make the movie cause it's gonna be great to see Spike back in action!!!!!!!!!

This is a MUST DO. James is a very talented actor and Joss doesn't do anything halfway. If he's got confidence in a script it must be done.<br />

Additionally, I have not gotten into a TV show like I have with Buffy and Angel. EVER. And no TV show since then has really grabbed me quite the same way. So, I'm totally gung-ho for it, especially with James in the lead.
One thing for sure though I also think that a movie where Illyria is reunited with her ancient race of Demons would be great and if they involved Spike, Westley, and Gunn it would be all the more greater. It would be like an Angel meets Chronicles of Rid***; more or less.
I don't know. James Marsters Is a great actor. I'm sure that there could be better things that he could be doing than over playing the role of Spike.<br />

Also that whole idea that someone was telling me about. The Ghostbusters: The Early Years, starring Dave Chapelle as a young Winston being trained by his mentor played by Patrick Stewart would be out of this world Man!

I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and I'm dying here without them. Spike was one of my favorite characters so I hope this will happen. I think if you could get Faith, Cordelia, and Illyria and any other characters from both series it would be a hit. I think it would be great for the cast of Angel and BTVS to get back togther to give their fans a liitle closure and since both shows have been off the air for so long. It would be a hit because of the big fan base. Who will it hurt just to do it once more for your fans. I understand why some of the actors don't want to do it but this is what made some of them really big hits. This is how most people will remember them whether they like it or not.moreless

i think they should do some more series on restarting the council with giles being the head. with willow and xander helping giles i hope they use the same actors but i know that sarah doesnt want to go back being buffy which is a shame but what about the rest of them they might do it.

Made for TV movies are never that great! I loved Spike and I think he could pull of a movie, but I dont know it would depend on if a few other cast memembers were staring with him I think.
I would rather see a big budget movie based on the shows, but either way I am happy. Joss Whedon is very good at what he does.
I would love to see a Spike movie!!! I watched Buffy and Angel just to see James. If Joss was to make a movie on any of the characters from Buffy or Angel Spike would be the best choice. I love Spike and I can't wait to see him again
I think it would be something worth watching. It would be nice to see some of the original cast. But hey wait. If Spike returns in a movie with him as the star, does that mean that Angel and the rest of the Angel team survived?(Remember how the last episode of Angel ended?)

The best option would be the Ripper series with Anthony... but since that is on a really slow track, I'd accept a couple hours of Spike's story. <br />

Any one of the main characters could carry an episode by themselves so I don't think that there would be any problem with a series of one offs starting with Blondie Bear. Just a chance to drop in on the Sunnydale alumni and see what they're up to would be great. And it makes sense to visit the vampires first since while Spike ain't getting any older, James is.<br />

And when Bones gets canceled in three weeks I'm thinking that David might be a little more ameniable to reprising Angel.

This is a great idea. I hope that everything works out and it can happen. Mike Ausiello over at tv guide, supposedly, is the one who set this idea in motion after so many fans wanted it. It will be great to see another story in the buffyverse.

If Whedon whats to go back to Buffy he should do with big-budget movie.
I would be more willing to see a TV movie with Giles as the head character than Spike. To me, Spike is just a recapitulation of the whole Angel story-line, minus the gypsy curse, adding a more darker side. Plus, without the core of the "Scooby gang", I don't think it would work. They need to focus on making a Buffy movie for the Big Screen with SMG as Buffy.
It wont be good, with just Spike by himself. I dont think it will be any good. Unless they bring back some characters. <br />
