Californication renewed for third season

Showtime's Californication just keeps going and going and going. The cable network has picked up the comedy for a third season, and has targeted a late-2009 date for the 13-episode new season.

"This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series," said Showtime president of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt. "Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it. "

In Californication, David Duchovny plays Hank Moody, a sex-obsessed novelist with writer's block. Drama and comedy wrap around each other lovingly as we see how Hank's poor decisions and eccentric friends torment his personal life.

Sure, it may be filled to the rim with perverse jokes and bare butts, but Californication is like the hooker with a heart of gold. Agree?

If I was to describe this show in one word, that word would be style - as in "this show has style". Glad to hear that there will be more of it.

AWESOME! I never thought that Showtime's Lineup could be better than HBOs, but with shows like Californication, Dexter and the Tudors, what does HBO have to offer aside from Entourage? I'm hoping this will make HBO produce more great shows to compete with Showtime. Right now, can't get enough of Sunday night Showtime!

This show proves that television can be fun without being stupid. The entire cast is fantastic, especially Natascha McElhone and Evan Handler, the script is very well written and I'm really glad that I'll have 13 more episodes to watch and meditate about why women are so into man like Hank...

I'm really happy to hear another season of Hank Moody's adventures are coming our way. I really think this show has much more to offer in further seasons to come.

Sorry, but this series should have ended after Season 1. That would have been an almost perfect Season. The quality of Season 2 was deeply saddening.

This has become my new favorite show. I only wish it would run an hour. There is so much in this half hour show, I only wish the writers could fill an entire hour. I love it!!!! Good job David!!!

I do love my David Duchovny. After not seeing Mulder on X-Files for so long, it's a please to see him on Californication -- and he does definitely get a lot of women in this one! Can't wait to see where a season 3 (and on) takes us in the life of Hank Moody.
