Caprica greenlit to series

Every sci-fi geek in the universe is searching for the last Cylon, but soon enough they'll all be talking about the first Cylon. Sci Fi Channel today announced it has ordered the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica to series on the heels of the completion of the two-hour pilot.

The news come just in time for fans of Battlestar Galactica, which is headed into its final 10 episodes beginning in January. Caprica is set 50 years before Battlestar and traces the feud between two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, of the 12 Colonies and the creation of and development of the Cylons. Season one has been set for 20 hours.

Esai Morales stars as Joseph Adama (father of Battlestar Galactica's William Adama) who takes on a large Cylon-creating corporation run by the Graystones (Eric Stoltz plays the clan's patriarch). Also starring in the program are Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker.

In true Sci Fi Channel fashion, we'll all have to wait a while to get a peek at Caprica. Production on the series is due to start next summer, with the debut of the series scheduled for 2010.
