Carrie Fisher has A Quiet Word

Actor, novelist and screenwriter Carrie Fisher will speak candidly about her on-screen career, her award-winning novel and her one-woman show on Tony Martin's A Quiet Word with...

Best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, Fisher is sure to provide some revelations about her turbulent early days in Hollywood.

Recent Australian interviews have revealed details of Fisher's cocaine use during the filming of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which is just one of the addictions she has battled.

Later in her career, Fisher made cameo appearances in numerous hit shows, keeping her profile raised despite a lack of leading roles. Among others, she has appeared in 30 Rock, Weeds, Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Smallville. More recently she had a guest stint on the Australian panel show Good News Week.

Currently touring the country with her one-woman show "Wishful Drinking', Fisher talks openly about her experience with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), the "advice" she received from the late John Belushi and winning Bipolar Woman of the Year.

"At my age, I say I have loss of memory from LSD, ECT and AGE … but hopefully I lose words more like Gondola!"

A Quiet Word with...Carrie Fisher airs 10pm Tuesday, November 9 on ABC1, and repeated at 6:30pm Saturday, November 14 on ABC2.
