Carrie Underwood's CMT special

American Idol champion Carrie Underwood can't stay away from reality television. The blonde country singer will appear this fall on an installment of CMT's In the Moment, a series of specials that document "the rise from nothing but a young musician's big dreams into hit songs and country stardom."

The special will give viewers a look at what Underwood's life has been like since she defeated Southern rocker Bo Bice on the Idol finale in May. Featured milestones will include Underwood's "official" introduction to Nashville, her appearance on CMT's 100 Greatest Duets, and her first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry.

Underwood's pitch-perfect renditions of country songs by the likes of Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, and the Dixie Chicks led her to victory over projected winner Bice. Her first single, Inside Your Heaven, made its debut this June at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Underwood and Bice, along with the rest of the American Idol finalists, are currently performing on the show's summer tour.
