Cartoon Net ratings grow

More kids are enjoying tube time, and it suits the Cartoon Network just fine.

The cable channel has posted year-over-year ratings gains in key kid demos, according to Nielsen Media Research. The animated cable net's ratings for season premieres have grown by double digits. Weekly prime-time ratings have also grown.

Ratings for new episodes of original Cartoon Network shows airing at 7 p.m. between June 5 and July 2 increased 17 percent in the kids 6-11 category. In the tweens 9-14 category, ratings also grew by 13 percent.

In overall weekly prime-time ratings, the network posted gains as well. In the kids 6-11 demo, ratings rose to an average 2.7, an 8 percent increase. In tweens 9-14, ratings jumped 12 percent, to 1.9.

Cartoon Network attributed the success to new episodes of popular favorites like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Camp Lazlo, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ben 10 and , and My Gym Partner's a Monkey.

The Grim Adventures of Billy Mandy has always been my favorite.I also love Chowder. You guys are kinda dumb to say Adult Swim is the best. Those shows are just plain pervert like and is not as cool as Billy and Mandy. We kids are not so easily amused,Lust_is_better.(or whatever your pathetic name is.)Im tired of you people acting like kids don't know anything.I'm a kid and I draw cartoons and write scripts for them!!!Eat that!!!

CN was better back then. Today, adult swim is better. No doubt about it. Sorry CN but Adult Swim is the man now...

Foster's and Camp Lazlo are pretty good, but I'm still a Cartoon Cartoon fan. I don't fancy the other new shows at all, especially Gym Partner and Squirrel Boy.

I'm remaining loyal to the Cartoon Cartoons, but Camp Lazlo and Foster's are good shows too. (I don't really like Gym Partner)

Man, kids are getting more naive. Though Foster's, Ben 10 B&M and newer eps of Lazlo deserve high ratings, Jake from Gym Partner has enough evidence to support he's somewhat gay

hmmm I didn't think MGPiaM was so popular. Camp Lazlo and Foster's have their moments as does Ben 10, but Billy and Mandy PWNs. I hope that that and the Ed's stick around for a few more years.

CN is really growing that fast!?! I hadn't noticed, considering if I end up on CN its usually on Adult Swim ... because Adult Swim is way better than "My Gym Partner's a Monkey" could ever be. Who is watching that crap ... oh yeah ... kids ... so easily amused.
Props to Foster's I actually watch that!! lol

Props to CN's new advertising scheme. I've seen cartoon network ads on mall directories. And these ads as well as the new CN commercials are funny!

funny, there biggest breadwinners always appeared to me to be their more mature stuff (Venture Brothers, Aquateen, "certain" anime selections), THAT is what they shoud be recognized for (primarily so more stuff like that is made, and not the simply minded low denominator crap that they mentioned in this article...honestly, kids will eat up almost anything, and often, if you throw them a more mature work, they'll probably like it MORE....i would know, Batman: TAS was one of my most favorite shows when i was that age).

Yeah, after the whole Cartoon Cartoon phase, CN sucked hard. I liked it best when it was all about the classic cartoons. The only good thing they have now is Adult Swim.

Cartoon Network has sucked for years now.

Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Jetsons, Smurfs, Tom and Jerry>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Foster's Home, Billy and Mandy, Camp Lazlo, etc.

That's kinda weird, seeing as a lot of their shows suck, save a few good ones. I guess the younger kids are buying into it.
