Cartoon Net ratings grow

More kids are enjoying tube time, and it suits the Cartoon Network just fine.

The cable channel has posted year-over-year ratings gains in key kid demos, according to Nielsen Media Research. The animated cable net's ratings for season premieres have grown by double digits. Weekly prime-time ratings have also grown.

Ratings for new episodes of original Cartoon Network shows airing at 7 p.m. between June 5 and July 2 increased 17 percent in the kids 6-11 category. In the tweens 9-14 category, ratings also grew by 13 percent.

In overall weekly prime-time ratings, the network posted gains as well. In the kids 6-11 demo, ratings rose to an average 2.7, an 8 percent increase. In tweens 9-14, ratings jumped 12 percent, to 1.9.

Cartoon Network attributed the success to new episodes of popular favorites like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Camp Lazlo, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ben 10 and , and My Gym Partner's a Monkey.
