CSI: Miami's Horatio Caine may be famous for taking off his sunglasses--his signature maneuver--while delivering snappy one-liners, but his ex-wife is famous for taking off a lot more.
Elizabeth Berkley, who played an aspiring dancer-turned-stripper in the 1995 critically panned cult classic Showgirls, will put on the robes of a woman linked to Caine in the CBS hit, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will be recurring as Julia Winston--Caine's ex-wife and mother of his son--who gets involved in a murder investigation when her husband is killed.
Berkley's initial casting in Showgirls raised some serious eyebrows at the time, as she was previously best known as the goody-two-shoes Jessie Spano in the teen dramedy Saved by the Bell. She also previously guest starred on the original CSI, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Titus.
From super showgirl to supermodel, former "It girl" Paulina Porizkova has been announced as a new judge for the CW's hit America's Next Top Model. Porizkova, now in her 40s, replaces panel judge Twiggy, who is leaving the show "due to scheduling conflicts," according to CW. She will begin during the series' next run.
In addition to strapping on itsy-bitsy bikinis for Sports Illustrated and paving the way for Eastern European models with loads of syllables in their surnames, Porizkova tried her hand at acting by appearing in Her Alibi and Arizona Dreams and danced in the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars (she was the first eliminated).
Though next year's pilot season is bound to be a little light because of the Writers Guild of America strike, some are still casting, says The Hollywood Reporter. Chris Johnson (South Beach, XXX: State of the Union) has landed a role in the first television project from film director Todd Phillips (Old School, Road Trip). In the ABC comedy The More Things Change..., Johnson will play one of four 20-something males.
Over on TNT, Beth Riesgraf (My Name is Earl, has son with Earl star Jason Lee) and Gina Bellman (Jane in the UK's popular Friends-like Coupling) have landed roles on Leverage. The drama follows con artists and thieves led by a group mastermind played by Timothy Hutton.

wasn't Elizabeth Berkley a guest star on C.S.I Miami some time ago? If anybody knows the answer please tell me. I watch the repeats on A&E occasionally I'm more of a Vegas C.S.I'er (not a word I know) maybe she was on C.S.I or perhaps it was Law and Order. oh great my head hurts now!
I think the show Leverage is something I would start watching. I've been a fan of Timothy Hutton since Ordinary People and I've been following his career ever since. I loved him in Nero Wolfe and as far as I'm concerned, he hasn't had a bad performance.
I really can't believe that TPTB over at CSI:Miami have cast Elizabeth Berkely as Horatio's ex wife. Perhaps her asking price to play Kyles mother was the cheapest TPTB could afford. Hopefully, she'll only be around for one episode.
I wondered if CSI Miami could get worse....answer...yep! I've been sticking with this show even as it became even more superficial and the storylines continued to decline but I fear this casting is the final nail in CSI Miami's coffin for me.

"Leverage" sounds promising, largely because of Timothy Hutton. He's one of my favorite actors and is watchable in whatever he does. He rocked in "Nero Wolfe" and had a great turn on "Kidnapped" before it got the axe. As for Elizabeth Berkely...meh. I can't see her with Caruso, but I can't stand "CSI: Miami," so I don't really have an opinion. She had a nice pair in "Showgirls" though. ;-)
