Cast updates: Kathie Lee back to daytime

Kathie Lee Gifford will be having breakfast with America once again, but this time she'll be doing it with new friends. Gifford, who hosted ABC's Live with Regis and Kathie Lee for more than a decade, today revealed she will be pulling hosting duties on NBC's Today beginning next week.

According to the Associated Press, Gifford said, "I'm eight years older, 10 pounds heavier, a half-inch shorter, and just in time for HD television." Gifford will host the 10 a.m. hour of the show with Hoda Kotb.

From America's sweetheart to one of the dirtiest mouths in television, Ian McShane has signed on to lead the NBC pilot Kings, says Variety. McShane previously ran his cursing mouth off as the evil Al Swearengen on the popular HBO western Deadwood.

Australian actor Simon Baker will play an investigator with a keen sense of observation in the CBS drama The Mentalist. Baker previously headlined The Guardian and appeared in the short-lived Smith.

Smallville part-timer Justin Hartley can finally hang up his tights. The actor who plays the Green Arrow on the CW superhero drama has landed the lead in the recently announced Austin Golden Hour. The show follows emergency room doctors in real time, like 24.

Elsewhere, Lauren Lee Smith and Omar Gooding got roles on the CBS neurosurgeon drama Can Openers, Portia Doubleday and Keir Gilchrist have been cast in The United States of Tara, Joanna Garcia will head up How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls, Sara Rue will play the female lead in the US remake of Spaced, and Bert Belasco will play opposite Bernie Mac in Starting Under.
