Cast updates: One Tree, One Life, Daisies

Today's round of casting updates isn't your typical batch of notes. Aside from the normal former-Saturday Night Live cast member getting a role on a hot new show, the rest features a pair of entertainers one would never expect near dramatic television.

The oft-maligned Kevin Federline--yes, the one-time Mr. Britney Spears--can now add actor to his list of "occupations." The rapper/dancer made his acting debut in an episode of CSI last year, and will be featured as a guest star on The CW's One Tree Hill.

However, his role as a frontman for the show's fictional rock band may go from guest spot to regular. According to UK entertainment site Digital Spy, Federline has been asked to return to the show as a regular character. The CW has not made any official statement on the matter.

As for Federline's other careers, he says, "Music is a passion to me but I'm finding my passion in acting right now."

K-Fed isn't the only musician heading to the small screen. In a match seemingly made by a mad scientist on hallucinatory drugs, rapper and hip-hop producer Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley will be featured on an episode of ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live. The Grammy winner will be joined by fellow musician Ken Hilson and perform the song "The Way I Are."

"I am very excited to have been afforded this opportunity on One Life to Live," said Timbaland in a statement. "This is a new experience for me. I am looking forward to having a great time and sharing my music."

Back on planet Earth, former Saturday Night Live comedian Molly Shannon has been added as a recurring cast member of ABC's Pushing Daisies, according to TVGuide.com.

In keeping with the show's quirky theme, Shannon will allegedly play Dilly Balsam, the proprietor of a salt-water taffy emporium that is located directly across the street from The Pie Hole, the business of protagonist Ned (Lee Pace). She will appear in multiple episodes in November.

In other casting news, actress Orla Brady (Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise) will be joining the cast of Shark as James Woods' character's ex-wife, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Meanwhile, Emily Rose (John From Cincinnati) will play multiepisode arcs in Jericho and Brothers & Sisters. In Jericho, she'll play an aid worker who helps rebuild the town, and in Brothers & Sisters, she'll play a friend of Rebecca's and have a fling with Thomas.

  • dgranitz2004

I actually thought season 4 of OTH was the best season they ever made...but Kfed? All I can do is laugh...Maybe Mark Schwann really did want to only have those initial 13 episodes that the CW awarded them. If he really wanted to renewed for a full season, he would have chosen a Britney Spears ex that's actually popular and attractive...not the one who should be behind bars...

I don't think I'll be able to take scenes between him and Peyton. omg. yuck.

  • -watchmewatchu-

This is the worst idea ever made by Mark Schwahn! I really don't think it is a good idea to have K-fed on the show as a regular (or at all for that matter) - but that's just me

  • GODHOOD

I don't know one person that likes K-Fed or his music, so I don't know what the producers of One Tree Hill are thinking. It certainly not to get higher ratings, this news sucks because now I have the watch this guy on television.

    Sep 20, 2007
  • widadita

Kevin on One Tree Hill, that sucks man! I hate that guy!!!!

    Sep 20, 2007
  • Vital_Shot

Wow, why is The CW stooping so low as to put K-Fed on one of there shows. That's a turn off for me, and I don't know what they are thinking. I hope they decide against him being a character on the show.

    Sep 20, 2007
  • SammyP

i dont know what to say...oth has always been number one when it came to musical guest stars. by taking on K-Fed i think theyre putting down the show. Now dont get me wrong, i dont wanna make any assumptions before actually seeing him on screen but please, please, please...is K-Fed the best the could have done.Plus Kfed i supposedly into the hiphop scene and oth has always been more punk/rock-oriented. i hope im not dissapointed in the 5th season coz its the most one ive anticipated since it began

    Sep 20, 2007
  • iheartfrosty

Well, K-Fed, or no K-Fed, I still love OTH to death. If I could make it through the horrible brother-sister duo from season two, surely I can make it through K-Fed's acting. P. Sawyer is my hero.

    Sep 20, 2007
  • rodh32340

Wow, now THAT'S Desperation!...K-Fed??????????? Why not just take an ax to One Tree and be done with it?

    Sep 20, 2007
  • chipiona

Just the thought of K-Fed being on OTH turns my stomach. How can they be so stupid to cast him. As a guest is bad enough but as a regular it's going to be disastrous. Funny how he's giving up music now and focusing all of his talents on Acting. What talents you ask?? exactly.... Poor OTH.. I really used to like that show.

  • BeachfrontGlass

Next Nellie Furtado will become a news anchor and Mouth from OTH will become a rapper...

Oh god, OTH is going down!!! It´s the beginning of the end!!

    Sep 20, 2007
  • AlkaStealther

well, Timbald could have chosen better where to guest star...

    Sep 20, 2007
  • LAURAMARIE63

OTH must be looking for a reason to get cut.

    Sep 20, 2007
  • princeza_9

    Glad I don't watch OTH.

    Sep 19, 2007
