Several television stars will spend their off-seasons doing what they love best: making money by doing some more acting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Supernatural's Jared Padalecki won't be straying too far from his shtick as a demon hunter in his new role: star of the remake of Friday the 13th. Padalecki will play a man investigating the grisly murders of hockey-mask-wearing psycho Jason Vorhees at Camp Crystal Lake. The movie is scheduled for release in February 2009.
Padalecki will be back for more road trips on Supernatural with costar Jensen Ackles next fall. The CW picked up the show for another season earlier this year.
Showtime viewers will recognize the chiseled features of one of the characters in Woody Allen's next movie. The Tudors' Henry Cavill has been cast in the upcoming untitled romantic comedy and will star opposite Evan Rachel Wood. Cavill plays the philandering Charles Brandon in The Tudors.
Ricky Gervais (Extras) is recruiting some serious talent for his upcoming film This Side of the Truth. Already packed with Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, and Louis C.K., the film will also feature 30 Rock's Tina Fey, Arrested Development's Jeffrey Tambor, The Daily Show's John Hodgman, and Best in Show's Christopher Guest.
The comedy follows a man who lives in a world where lies do not exist. Thus, he tells fibs to get ahead.
