CBS Books Matt LeBlanc for a New Comedy From the Writers of That '70s Show

Matt LeBlanc has signed on to star on I'm Not Your Friend, a new CBS comedy written by That '70s Show scribes Jeff and Jackie Filgo, Deadline reports. In addition, legendary comedy director James Burrows—who will be honored by LeBlanc and his Friends co-stars, as well as other comedy casts, in an NBC special later this month—is on board to direct.

I'm Not Your Friend follows a contractor (LeBlanc) who navigates the difficulties of parenthood when his wife goes back to work.

According to Deadline, CBS has ordered a pilot of the show and has given a 13-episode series commitment to LeBlanc, who is also executive-producing.

The deal all but confirms that the upcoming fifth season of LeBlanc's Showtime series, Episodes, will be its last, as was suggested by Showtime executive Gary Levine at the Television Critics Association winter previews last month. The Friends alum also recently announced that he will be a co-host on BBC America's Top Gear.

Pity he can't keep doing Episodes; ending at the end of this season is sad. It's one of the very few comedies I watch.

And be real, 'I'm Not Your Friend' can't possibly be worse than
'Angel from Hell'.

Episodes is great, really great. I'd rather that just keep going than see him in something else to be honest.

So, who is he not friends with in this?

If he is still doing Episodes, Top Gear, and then this new show, he is going to be one tired actor. More so, if on Top Gear he goes on driving adventures through South American jungles or someplace.

"The Friends alum also recently announced that he will be a co-host on BBC America's the BBC's Top Gear."

There we go fixed that one for ya. BBC America produces Top Gear USA and not the real McCoy. Although after the departure of Messer's Clarkson, May & Hammond that "honour" might now go to Amazon.

True it may be produced by the BBC but it also airs on BBC America in America which is where this website is based.

Well round these parts The Flash is being broadcast on Sky. So me saying that it Sky's The Flash, is incorrect (and for a TV journalist would be just plain lazy) regardless of my current geographic location.

I wonder how much he will be involved with Top Gear? Will he be filming his TG segmants just in the US because the filming schedual will be complicated. It's all just a bit of a strange mix and timing.

Matt hasn't been very lucky.. I mean, beside Friends, nothing he's touched worked. But he's got Friends residual monies coming in, so, he's good for life.

Episodes is one of the only sitcoms on TV that has actually made me laugh out loud. I hate the expression lol, because it rarely happens and people are never really doing it, but Episodes can actually make it happen! Especially the season one finale.

Well, I didn't know of that one.. I will try it out and let you know how fun it is from my perspective. Thank you for letting me know.

Too much TV, too little time. Hopefully, as CC would advertise, I hope it is time well wasted! :)

He has won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance on Episodes and he has been nominated for four Primetime Emmys for the same. But i don't watch Episodes either. It was a little too self-congratulatory for me.

Oh, good grief. ANOTHER fish out of water stay at home dad story? I like Matt. I even enjoyed him in Joey. And he's great in Episodes. But, this sounds HORRIBLE.

Weird, Top Gear UK announcement and now this, and I'm assuming they won't both be filmed in the UK.
