CBS Cancels Angel From Hell

We'll never find out if Jane Lynch's Angel From Hell character was an actual guardian angel or just some dumpster diver that stalked pretty blondes (in this case, Maggie Lawson). CBS is pulling Angel From Hell from its schedule and throwing it onto the cancellation pile, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Though it seems like Angel From Hell has been on the air forever, it only made it through five episodes of its first season. The series premiered in early January to lukewarm reviews after being bumped to midseason from its originally planned fall debut. There is no word on whether the unaired episodes will see the light of day.

On Thursday, February 11, Angel From Hell's 8:30pm slot will be filled by CBS's trusty spackle: a rerun of The Big Bang Theory. Starting February 18, the opening will go to 2 Broke Girls, which will move out of its current Wednesday time period with the return of Survivor on February 17.

Though fellow CBS single-camera comedy Life in Pieces has done well this season and earned a full-season order, Angel From Hell continues CBS's typical aversion to the format. As for CBS's other new shows, every single one of them—Limitless, Code Black, and Supergirl—has earned a full season. Rush Hour and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders have yet to air.

Now that THAT's settled, can we get a return date for Person of Interest?

Will you miss Angel From Hell?

I absolutely hated this show. A bunch of friends and I previewed this in Vegas. A lot of us in the group walked out commenting on how bad it was. I can't believe they even aired it. The actors that played the family were fine with what they had to work with, but the Angel character was awful. Not Lynch's fault, she played it like they wanted her too I'm sure. (I'm not a Lynch fan.) But horrible writing on the shows part. Trash it forever please.

One last note .... Jane Lynch is a great actress and Pollack is a great actor. They MADE this show (along with what I thought was some great writing by the writers). CBS - if you aren't going to use the show - PLEASE give it to any other network that will take it and let them run with it .... then sit back and cry when it starts bringing in the viewers..... cause given time to develop it's story line, it will.

I really liked this show. CBS, PLEASE don't trash it. It's one of the good ones. I just HAVE to find out more about the angel, and the brother of the girl she's guarding, and whether or not the father warms up to the situation. I LOVE ALL these actors and actresses. It's a great cast and a great plot. Why in the name of, well, Heaven, would they dump THIS one?!!!! And why keep Life in Pieces. WHAT bad reviews? Who was doing the reviewing? A bunch of drunks? This is a great show. I watch MOM and Big Bang Theory and and Mike and Molly and this one is right up there with them. Why??!! PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON!!!!! Stop dropping all the good shows. Now I'm quaking in my boots about loosing the others that I like. STOP IT!!!!

That's too bad. It's always the funniest comedies that get cancelled, while shit like the unfunny Life in Pieces gets renewed... It really is beyond me why people prefer that when there's nothing happening in that show and like 99% of the jokes are vulgar.

I will never understand why the moronic networks prefer to air reruns x1000 times rather than NEW episodes, even if they are the last few... New episodes of a less popular show is still always going to be better than reruns.

It wasn't the worst, but it just wasn't funny enough to compete when there's so much to choose from. I too am bummed for Maggie Lawson. This wasn't nearly as good as Back in the Game, which deserved a longer run imo.

James Roday must be so upset for Maggie.
Perhaps Lynch could use this as a break free period and play an over-baring character in something.

It sucks for Maggie Lawson. Her last couple of shows hasn't done well at all.

Jane Lynch is a one character actor. She needs to explore her abilities a little.

Life in Pieces is really not that good either, but I guess now they're gonna have to renew it to keep at least one of them around.

I was hoping they would give it some time to find its footing. The Office was horrible at first, too! This was a good cast. I really loved Kevin Pollack as the dad and Maggie Lawson is great. Darn. I'm with you: it's better than re-runs.

Ouch. Not that it was great, but that it was actually pulled from the schedule. I guess if you have another 30-minute comedy that gets great ratings even in reruns (TBBT), the bar is set quite high.

IMO the show played up the annoying stalker angle too much, and the all-day drinking probably didn't endear the angel character to many, either.

I won't miss it, because I didn't watch it, and I think part of the reason I didn't watch it is somehow I suspected it wouldn't make it far. Maybe I would have liked it, but I'm definitely not going to bother now.

Maggie Lawson deserves a really good show. That baseball one and this angel one didn't deserve her. I hope she gets another chance. But, two failed series won't help her chances at a third, I think.

Tell that to Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight (2007-08) CBS, Three Rivers (2009-10) CBS, then Hawaii Five-0 (2010-still on) CBS)

For me, the statistics don't matter, as neither show's failure were in any way her faut, and her talent and personality should garner her another chance.
Or just bring back Psych...

'There is no word on whether the unaired episodes will see the light of day.'

This is the same thing that happened with Otherworld (1985), 13 episodes were made, yet only 8 aired when it was cancelled.

Aww. Darn. Maggie Lawson always has a place in my heart from Psych. I hate when any series is cancelled before even the first season ends especially when actors i love are in it. Every series should get a season to develop in my view.

Yeah, it was not the worst show, but far from great. I think Lynch was being herself too much and not a real believable, even likeable character. It was more interesting than funny, but had an amusing moment or two. Lawson was just fine, but really needs to find herself on a great show, or casting people need to see her for the talent she is/could be - otherwise would be a waste of her career, as she is an attractive enough and a decent enough actress. I am behind by two episodes, but will finish off what they have given us mostly because of her. Borheimer as her brother was pointless and Pollak as her father may have been a misstep too. I was initially looking forward to this, but disappointed and won't miss it.

Do you mean not funny enough or not stupid enough? Young people today seem to equate the two given the success of trash like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I'll take, funny, please, anytime, and, although this isn't the funniest/best sitcom on the air, it's good enough.
