CBS details new schedule, Jericho return

As the Writers Guild of America strike continues, networks are preparing for a long winter of television without the usual flow of new programming. The latest to release an updated schedule for the early portion of 2008 is CBS, and it will see an influx of game shows and its stable of well-received reality shows, as well as the return of a favorite.

First, the big news for Jericho fans: The drama will return to the air on Tuesdays beginning February 12 at 10 p.m. The show's first season ran on Wednesdays, and after its famous, storybook lifesaving was partially rerun on Fridays. Now on Tuesdays, Jericho will follow one of three (yes, three) weekly installments of the domestic experiment Big Brother.

After several seasons of being made during the hot summer nights, the reality show will make its first winter showing in mid-February. The show will also air on Wednesdays and Sundays. Fellow reality hit Survivor will premiere its 16th edition on Thursday, February 7 at 8 p.m. Details on the upcoming season have not yet been announced.

More unscripted fare will be coming with the return of Power of 10 on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning January 2. The game show is hosted by Drew Carey and asks contestants to correctly predict trends among Americans.

But it isn't all reality for CBS. In addition to Jericho, CBS will also debut the new season of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' The New Adventures of Old Christine (Mondays beginning January 28 at 9:30 p.m.) and the series premiere of The Captain (8:30 p.m. that same night). The new comedy stars Fran Kranz, Chris Klein, Jeffrey Tambor, and Raquel Welch as a group of people who live in the same apartment building in Hollywood.

In addition to these changes, CBS will be stacked with reruns of some of its staples, such as Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, and its trio of CSI shows. CBS did also say it would also continue to air its Friday slate of Ghost Whisperer, Moonlight, and Numb3rs but did not include Friday in its latest chart (hence they're not on the chart's assumed that they will remain as is).

Another new game show called Do You Trust Me? has also completed production but has not yet been scheduled.
