CBS has committed to shoot a comedy pilot called Genius Bar, written by two former producers of That '70s Show.
Based on an idea by consumer-marketing expert Krishnan Menon, the project explores the interactions between people who work at a place similar to the Genius Bar at the Apple stores and the cool, hip, and beautiful employees at a nearby Abercrombie & Fitch-type store.
The pitch, from writers Josh Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia, drew strong interest from ABC, CBS, and NBC and--after some spirited bidding--landed at CBS.
Sternin and Ventimilia will write the script and will executive produce with Menon. Sternin and Ventimilia, who have been a writing team for 12 years, served as executive producers on Fox's long-running comedy That '70s Show.
Before launching his own marketing-consulting firm, Phenomenon, Menon worked for such top marketing agencies as DDB and Digitas West, where he was involved in high-profile campaigns including the launch and marketing of the iMac and iPod for Apple, JetBlue, and Santana's album Supernatural.
