CBS Remembers Rush Hour Exists, Cancels It After One Season

Did you forget about Rush Hour on CBS? No one would blame you if you did, because we're pretty sure CBS canceled this weeks ago and only just remembered to tell anyone about it. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the series—which was based on the popular 1997 film starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan as two mismatched police partners—has just now been canned after one season of awful ratings.

After a late March debut, the hourlong drama averaged just a 1.2 rating in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic and was notching just 6 million viewers in Live+7 day ratings. That's anemic for CBS. The news comes shortly after the network renewed freshman dramas Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. With this cancellation, only freshman drama Limitless, also based on a preexisting property but a much, much better show, is left waiting to hear its fate.

Will you miss Rush Hour? Did you remember Rush Hour was a show?

Does anyone know when the next episode airs? It say it is on tonight in the episode guide, but it is not listed on the CBS website - Code Black is instead. Is this another case of if you want to see the last few episodes you have to watch online? I appreciate any info!

Anyone notice that the guy playing Carter is the same guy who is in the ciggarete commercial that pulls his tooth out.

Well, no surprise her, it is crap. I watched the pilot and abandoned it.
I wish they would renew "Limitless". That show was fun to watch. I didn't expect much but somehow came back week after week. I liked the humour.

Rush Hour was better than Code Black..but, about Limitless, Renew already ! Any chance they're holding off because they like hearing us beg for the shows we like.

While the first episode was so-so, the rest of the series was actually pretty entertaining. Too bad. It was really getting good. Oh well.

Lol CBS actually thought this was a good idea. Like someone pitched a Rush Hour tv show and they said yes. They green-lit a Rush Hour tv show. Hilarious.

I really wanted to like the show. But it just lacked the chemistry between the Leads that Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker had in the movies. There was just a cold awkwardness.

Damn. It wasn't must-see TV by any stretch of the imagination but after the pilot it has picked up a little. It's one of those cancellations that stings a little now but I will get over it quickly.

I really enjoyed Rush Hour and thought they packed a lot of good action and character development in every episode. The two mains were really engaging. Of course, they always cancel my favorites. Sigh.

I didn't think this show was as terrible as some people make it out to be. If anything, I enjoyed the fighting and parkour sequences. Still, if this helps Limitless get renewed then I'm absolutely cool with it.

I can't believe this! First Unforgettable (for the third time), then CSI: Cyber, and now this!

And for the record, CBS never even gave this show a fighting chance: having it premiere so late in the season, putting it in a death slot without a decent lead-in program-you name it!

Yeah the pilot was flat, but the show improved as it went on! The production companies and producers should at least shop it around to another network or maybe a streaming site like Netflix or Hulu or something!

I'm only surprised that it made it all the way thru the first season. I couldn't last 15 minutes for the pilot, it was that bad. This is a case of a good network decision.

I'm not going to say CBS had a bad idea in turning Rush Hour into a TV show, after all, there is a lot of p residence for this: The Odd Couple, Buck Rogers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, MIB (cartoon but I'm still counting it) and lest we forget the king of them all, M*A*S*H. Thing is, these shows did one thing this show didn't and that was continue from the existing story. Rush Hour's attempt to redo the 1st movie was so bad, I never bothered to watch another episode. Had they just continued on, even if only from the 1st movie, I might have kept watching but alas, too late now.

Maybe if they went the 24 route, it might of worked. But what every episode most likely had nothing to do with Rushing through the hour? Or being stuck in traffic;P I couldn't get past the pilot. But I'm curious do you know if and when the series finale is going to air?

The pilot was terrible, the following episodes were sloppily edited to try and hide bad choreography and the lesser skills of the new Agent Lee. Also, there was none of the witty banter and fun of the movies.

the pilot episode was way to fast and really bad, but it did get better week to week mostly because of carters cousin aka U TURN from weeds he was always on point.

I would not say that I am going to miss this show, but it was better than I thought it would be. The action was good and it was one of those shows that was fun to watch and not pay that much attention to. I think there are other shows that are much worse and should be canceled.

This was a show that no one asked for. The pilot was a really bad retelling of the original movie, but the show did improve. I watched this weekly, but it was beyond obvious that the audiance for this show was small. You pretty much had to be black or Asian to like this and mu guess is both black and Asian people were put off by the poor casting, overpowering stereotypes and lack of originality. Shame on you CBS, I didn't think you could do worse that Supergirl, but you proved me wring.

"Let's take a really good movie from the 80s and make a TV show out of it. But, let's replace Chris Rock with a guy who's just not funny. And, we'll replace Jackie Chan with a guy who'd not as fun to watch fight. And, let's botch any chemistry the two characters have. Yeah, that'll be fun!"

No, not surprised.

It's ok to go on a rant, but only if you have the facts right, otherwise you come off looking like a moron by saying an 80's movie instead of late 90's, or calling Chris tucker, Chris Rock (I guess you're racist as well)

To be fair I was discussing the movie with my friend (while watching the pilot) i replaced chris tucker with chris rock too. However, i totally replaced the actor with the one i said in scenes played in my head. Once she pointed out my error, i realized why the scenes didn't work well in my head at all. :D

Hah! Fair point on the 80s vs 90s. But, I won't accept my bad memory of an actor in a movie I only watched once 2 decades ago being called racism. I just suck at names.

And, frankly, accuracy on TV comments isn't my top priority.

But, thanks for playing.

I'm going to particularly miss Jon Foo's Lee. dude is really talented (apparently he's british) but you can tell it's often not a stunt double. seeing page kennedy again was nice too. I'm not surprised it was cancelled or necessarily deserving of renewal but I would have kept watching.

and no cbs didn't cancel it weeks ago as it's still been airing. as angel from hell taught us when they cancel a show early they cease airing new episodes.
