CBS Renews NCIS for Season 11 America F*CK YEAH!

This may come as a shock, but CBS has renewed NCIS for an eleventh season. The announcement came after the network locked up star Mark Harmon for another season.

"In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the #1 show on television," said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Corporation. "NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today’s global content ecosystem—high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform."

(Sorry, I had to include that quote from the press release because it's so awesome.)

NCIS is averaging 21.48 million viewers per episode, or roughly 18.36 million more viewers than Do No Harm pulled in last night for its series premiere. NCIS is also earning a 4.2 rating among the 18-49 age demo and is a huge hit overseas, which is a good thing because now those countries know to fear us. Look at us the wrong way, and we'll sic Mark Harmon on your ass. Not the Summer School one, either.

I love NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. I would hate to see them canceled like CSI:NY!!!! What is going through the networks minds to cancel such popular shows? I love all the CSI shows, even the canceled CSI:Miami which I miss but don't cancel anymore of my shows please!!!!

Fantastic! Mark Harmon is the glue that truly makes the show work. I watch or tape it every Tuesday night and look forward to every episode. Mark Harmon's character "Gibbs" is my favorite. I agree - NCIS is Unbeatable!

The AD this week said FINAL 3 episodes - are we SURE it has been renewed??? This is my #1 don't miss show! - My ONLY problem is that Tony and Ziva haven't gotten together yet - the series would work just fine with them together - if the writers are good - they find a way to make it work! Hope CBS is listening or they will be starting down the NBC road to nowhere!

Good I started watching NCIS late in the game because I loved JAG and was mad when NCIS took its timeslot and JAG got moved to the timeslot of death aka friday nights. With the NCIS channel always playing episodes I caught up on all the seasons and storylines. I love Mark Harmon and that is what keeps me watching.

I really like NCIS-It is one of the few shows I do watch on TV. Most are "reality" junk or vulgar comedy. I am very glad CBS is showing some sense and keeping a good, entertaining show. Doesn't have to be absolutely correct. The charachters work well together and have just enough sass to keep me and many others interested. For those who don't like it, there is a simple solution-change the channel. That's what I do when what I consider "junk" comes on.

what's also impressive is that the core cast of characters, Gibbs, Tony, Ducky, and Abbey were all in the 2-part stealth pilot that was part of season 7? of JAG

Don't know how one of the boring action oriented and horrid juvenile humor in a serious environment kinda show can be #1. Characters are annoying as hell...I can't take the show serious because the juvenile lame humor disrupts the plot every other minute, and I can never really fear for the character's safety or connect with them.

LMAO you must care because YOU decided to reply to my review to begin with. Do you have anything to actually contribute as a response other than a typical juvenile response worthy of Twitter and YouTube?

Gotta love another adult responding to an adult review offering an OPINION and another immature "adult" deciding they can't deal with differing opinions in life. It bothers them so much they resort to teen like behavior!

Move along child!

This news just prove that television is all about business and not about quality. Sadly, I'm not surprised.
The characters on the show are nice ; they have no depth whatsoever but they're nice.
As for the writing, it is atrocious ! Unoriginal, every time I watched, the bad guy was a muslim/mexican/foreigner/ sometimes, the three of them (if he wasn't lucky); the only known terrorist organization is Al Quaida which may be the most famous but is far from being the only one on the planet...
A show that's too easy to follow, way too easy to understand, where everything is black or white ... Not really my cup of tea...

AMEN!!! I cannot for the life of me understand how this show is #1. The characters are beyond cheesy with no depth, there's no real sense of danger though they continue to try and pretend like they are in danger. There's no sense of seriousness because every other minute is spent on juvenile humor for a show dealing with the military.

The show's humor is more annoying than it has EVER been funny. The plots are usually a snooze fest with the minor exception of big story arcs regarding a character's eventual end. Can't stomach the show at all! Give me Persons of Interest, Law & Order or Law & Order SVU (back in the day anyhow), stuff like that that still can have well timed humor that actually works while keeping the show very serious!

I haven't watched NCIS in a couple years, but it's a good show.

I'm starting to think that Harmon could've walked years ago, but stays with it for the rest of the actors. Who knows, but when I hear the name "Iron Man," Harmon's the first guy I picture.

Well, I mostly use this show to describe the kind of crime-series i don't like, but still it goes to show that even though you don't like the show you know what the show is and what it is about. No wonder it gets a 11th season, anything else would just be bad business.

Harmon is a machine. The guy is 61 and is still running, shooting, fighting and getting blown up. What's really sad is NCIS isn't like CSI, Gibbs can't just be replaced by someone else and Tony can't take over. The show only works because of how the team is composed. If you take away anyone now it just wouldn't work.

I actually recently watched almost all of NCIS again. You know what I find kind of funny. For the 200th ep they showed what could have been and in pretty much every other reality Tony and Todd were together and Abbey and MeGee were together.

I actually liked the storyline when Tony took over the team. I like "Serious Tony" much better than "Goofy Tony". He's supposed to be this great cop and investigator but they really don't give him much to work with. And Weatherly has had some of the bests dramatic moments in the show. I would like to see more of that.

I really think they could change the dynamic of the team (perhaps two closely intertwined series with Gibbs highly involved in both) without betraying the viewers.

No one wants to fix what ain't broken but I always feel like Weatherly's talents are being underused.

i reckon weatherly should of been given the role of face man/templeton peck in the a team remake movie over brandon cooper...as weatherly is imho a good look a like to the original played by dirk benedict.

Glad to see that NCIS still has legs. The storytelling has remained consistent with just enough roadbumps to not make it feel flat, despite being repetitive (and yet not so many roadbumps that it's cartoony, like CSI Miami). That said, there really should be a point where this show says enough, where its characters can move on or up or out without feeling ridiculous that there are 40-year-old men taking orders like they're still basically green recruits.

Fantastic quote, that is some beautiful execu-speak, thanks for sharing.

I liked the Summer School one, he'd make a fun cop. They should have Gibbs hit his head and turn into that guy for an episode.

I have watched since season 1. The early seasons were so good that I got hooked watching the French dubbed version. Over the last few years I have quit watching several times but I always end up watching again. I'm currently going through a "I'm done with NCIS" phase. I miss Gibbs, though...

Wow. I thought Mark Harmon would call it quits at 10 years. Love it that I was wrong! Major kudos to the NCIS writers - they listened to their fans who were complaining loudly the past couple of years about how far away from the original quality they had strayed. Too many guest stars (Jamie Lee Curtis probably was the tipping point) taking away from the core cast and too many "phoned in" scripts. We cared to complain. The show cared enough to listen. Thanks!
Congratulations, NCIS & CBS & Mark Harmon! Will stick around for another year!

i started watching NCIS and its spin off show last year but i gotta admit it took me a while to get into the first seasons i thought they dragged majorly for me still good but i was abit like urgh bit boring and slow but i did manage to get into it more and more as it got on
dont want the show to drag on and on and on though i think the likes of 13 or 15 seasons would be too many for me maybe one or 2

Ughhhhhh. This show has gotten so boring! How can anyone watch it anymore? I can watch 5 minutes of an episode and guess how it's going to end. I stopped watching last season because I couldn't stand it any more. Also, the cast is getting too old for me to pretend Tony is still as hot as he was when he played Logan in Dark Angel. Sorry, guys it's over. And I never liked Mark Harmon. That guy is a terrible actor in my book. Maybe I'd start watching again if Gibbs was murdered or retired finally and sailed off into the sunset never to be seen/heard from again.

As long as Mark Harmon is on the show, people will continue to watch.
First thing CBS should do every season is make sure Harmon is back.
When he leaves, the great ratings will go away with him. Just like it was with William Petersen and CSI. Not even movie star Laurence Fishburne could give that show the great ratings it used to have.

I don't know. NCIS is one of those rare shows, where it's hard to tell, which character or actor is more popular with the fans*. Something tells me that if Harmon would leave and Michael Weatherly would start leading the team, enough people would still watch. CSI did the mistake in bringing in new lead characters. NCIS fans warmed up to the cast for 10 years. Replace Gibbs with a brand new character and fans would get angry. (And to be honest, CSI had the problem that most characters are pretty boring and forgettable. When Petersen left, pretty much the most, maybe even only interesting person on the show was gone.)

*Okay, some are obviously more popular than others. You can be sure that Abby and DiNozzo have more fans than Palmer, but NCIS has one of the most beloved ensembles on TV. Ask any fan if he dislikes any of the characters and they will most likely say "no". (Well...maybe Vance, but he only shows up every two or three episodes.)

I'd probably still watch it, even with Gibbs gone, if Tony took his place. That could work. A new character as the leader, even if it was a rather known actor playing him/her would be riskier, and would probably fail.
NCIS always had great character interactions. The characters make the show fun to watch. With Gibbs out of the picture the show would surely lose some viewers, maybe even many of them, but not as many as CSI did, because the characters here are better.

I'm shocked it got renewed solely because most shows don't make it past season 10. Heck, most shows don't even make it past 7 or 8 nowadays. NCIS is a great series with great stories, but I never expected it to pass JAG's 10 season run. I honestly thought they'd start focusing more on NCIS: LA after season 10, but I guess I was wrong. Way to go NCIS.

There is what I like to refer to as the NCIS Channel. USA network in the US seems to show NCIS and the occasional NCIS:LA when they're not showing new stuff in prime time.

There's also a Law and Order Franchise Channel - TNT. Someone's got Criminal Minds too. A friend visiting from overseas fell asleep in his hotel room for 10 hours quipped "I fell asleep watching Law and Order. I woke up 10 hours later watching Law and Order" - funny.
