The Amazing Race has come to the rescue at CBS, switching nights to replace a pair of faltering Wednesday sitcoms.
CBS said Thursday that Out of Practice and Courting Alex are being benched after two ratings-anemic weeks running at 8-9 p.m. Wednesday. Race will move from its Tuesday 10 p.m. slot beginning Wednesday.
Replacing Race on Tuesday will be reruns of shows in the CSI franchise.
A spokesperson for CBS emphasized that neither Out of Practice nor Courting Alex has been canceled and that they could return to the schedule at some point later in the year.
I hope both these shows return. I hate reality shows & I refuse to watch them.
How sad that drivel like Amazing Race holds more confidence at the network than these comedies. They remind me of the sort of sitcom you used to see on CBS, back in the days of "Love And War" and "Double Rush". I think a comedy show with a brain has better chances on cable than broadcast these days.
out of practice had a bit of sucess at the beginning but now its failing, courting alex isnt a good show. i love the amazing race but i liked it when ncis, and amazing race were together.
"Out of Practice" is a great show. Teaming two veterans like Channing and Winkler with a fine ensemble cast makes for a great sitcom that should be given a break. "Courting Alex" hasn't been given a fair shot, either. Yet "... Old Christine" remains.
Out of Practice isn't any good, but Courting Alex is cute and I enjoy watching it. I'm hoping it won't get cancelled, but with the way networks are cancelling shows so quick these days, it probably will get axed.
I am not a fan of reality TV but I do love the Amazing Race.<br />
Courting Alex is not worth watching at all so the Amazing Race is a welcome replacement.
While Courting Alex and Out of Practice aren't worth five out of five stars, I do think they're both good. I think the networks are cancelling shows much too prematurely. Sometimes a little time is necessary for people to jump on the band wagon, right? Even though CBS isn't saying the shows are cancelled, I'm willing to bet they will be. Out of Practice has already had one hiatus, two can't be good. :x

I watched every episode of Courting Alex, so I feel confident in saying, "The show is not good." Not very funny. Not very cute. Not necessarily bad, but not worth 30 minutes of time.
