Fundraisers from all over the country have been busy raising money to make this year's Children in Need charity extravaganza more successful than ever before -- a feat that's been achieved nearly every year for the last three decades. As usual, a whole host of celebrities will be on hand to entice you into donating money by performing special sketches, live music and good old-fashioned begging. Here are the things to look out for…
Host Terry Wogan--who, this year, celebrates his thirtieth year on the show-- is joined by Strictly Come Dancing's Alesha Dixon and Tess Daly for the seven-hour long charity telethon, which raises money for disadvantaged children from across the globe. They'll be joined by the cast of Merlin, Casualty and Poirot throughout the show and will be presenting appeals from the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Lady GaGa.
For those of you left craving more Doctor Who following the special Waters of Mars episode last weekend, there's another treat in store. As with last year's Children in Need there'll be an exclusive video trailer from the Christmas episodes aired during the show, which will be David Tennant's last as The Doctor.
EastEnders / The Bill
Not wanting to break from tradition the cast from EastEnders and The Bill will perform over-the-top musical numbers, including a rendition of Rat Pack classics. Meanwhile, some of the stars from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks will make their first Children in Need appearance with a live medley of Queen songs, aping last week's Queen-themed X Factor special.
The night welcomes live performances from pop singers Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott and what remains of the Sugababes, among others, while West End stars including Jason Donovan and Torchwood's John Barrowman--fresh from his stage run in musical The Birdcage--will also sing in the studio.
