Christina Applegate is Now a TV Mom

... Remember when Christina Applegate was hot-piece-of-teen Kelly Bundy on Married With Children? Well now she's a TV mom and you (and I) are officially old. Applegate has been cast in a new untitled NBC pilot penned by Parks and Recreation writer Emily Spivey. She'll play a "snarky mom married to a stay-at-home dad," should everything work out. Congrats to Applegate, she's always been a class act. [Vulture]

... Simon Cowell has snagged his first judge for the upcoming glorified talent show The X Factor, coming next fall to Fox. Big-name producer "L.A." Reid has landed one of the coveted spots, and now we can all sigh in disappointment. Reid has a big name in the industry (he was behind TLC and other acts of their time), but will the common person care? [LA Times]

... Entourage's Kevin Dillon has lined up his next gig for when the HBO hit goes dark this summer. He'll play opposite David Hornsby in the CBS comedy pilot How to Be a Gentleman, about an uptight guy who learns to live life with the help of his friend. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Donald Sutherland, who is always welcome on my TV, has joined NBC's comedy My Life as an Experiment. Sutherland will play the father-in-law of the lead character (played by Canada's own Jon Dore), a man who subjects himself to outlandish experiments as part of his job as a journalist. [TV Line]

... 90210 showrunner Rebecca Sinclair has left her post, opting not to renew her contract at the CW drama. The network said the show will go on, and that it's currently looking for a replacement. Might I recommend our very own Louis Peitzman? He watches that show, right? [TV Line]

... The latest rocker to go anti-Glee (and really, they all should if they want to maintain any cred) is Foo Fighter frontdude Dave Grohl. Previously, guitar god Slash and Grammy winners Kings of Leon got into spitting wars with Glee creator Ryan Murphy over the use of their songs, which they denied him. "It's every band's right, you shouldn't have to do f***ing Glee," Grohl told The Hollywood Reporter. "And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we're not, like, begging to be on his f***ing show... f*** that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee." Added Grohl, "Yeah, f*** that s***." [THR]

... A couple more casting notes for ya: Tom Everett Scott (Southland) will play Jenna Elfman's overworked husband in the ABC pilot Bad Mom. Esai Morales (Caprica) is back with Ronald D. Moore, taking a role in the magic-tinged cop drama 17th Precinct over at NBC. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Do you miss Matthew Fox? The Lost star said he was done with television after the show wrapped up, because he wanted to stick with film and his hobby of flying. Fox will play an assassin in the film adaptation of James Patterson's I, Alex Cross. Look for this one sometime next year. [Deadline Hollywood]
