Christopher Eccleston Reunites With Cracker Writer

The Doctor Who actor is to star in a new crime drama, created by Jimmy McGovern.

Having already worked on successful shows, such as Cracker and Hillsborough, Eccleston and McGovern are again teaming up for a new six-part production for the BBC.

Much like McGovern's previous BAFTA-winning series The Street, each episode of Accused will concentrate on the hardship of one particular character. The drama investigates how six potential criminals--one, an adulterous plumber, played by Eccleston--have wound up in the dock.

Demons' Mackenzie Crook also stars in the show as a soldier called Buckley. Talking about the talent involved, McGovern says: "It's great to work with Chris again and I've often tried in the past to get Mackenzie into something of mine."
