Spirited is baaack...
Claudia Karvan will continue her ghostly romance as Spirited returns for a second season on W.
The AFI Award-nominated drama will premiere 10 new episodes this year, with production currently underway in Sydney.
"We have a few frenzied months ahead of us and I feel galvanised and excited," Karvan said. "I think our story lines are playful and surprising, and I can't wait to help bring them to life."
As well as co-producing the series with Jacquelin Perske (Love My Way, Fireflies), Claudia Karvan will reprise her role as Suzy Darling, the newly separated dentist who got more than she bargained for when she bought an apartment inhabited by the ghost of rock-star Henry Mallet (Matt King).
King will continue in his role as the troubled apparition, along with Rodger Corser as Steve Darling, Belinda Bromilow as Jonquil Payne, Angus Sampson as Zac Hannigan, Louis Fowler and Charlie Hancock as Elvis and Verity Darling, and Jane Harders as Rita.
New additions to the show include Simon Lyndon as powerful, charismatic ghost "The King" and Heather Mitchell as Suzy and Jonquil's estranged mother, Helen Payne.
"It's very exciting to be developing the Spirited world further, and deeper and wilder, and to be working with such a superb ensemble of actors," said Perske, who also heads up the writing team.
Few details of the sophomore season's premise have been revealed, apart from the news that the "apartment building is now home to an entourage of ghosts, some here to help and some here to destroy".
