Comedy Central Renews Key & Peele for a Bigger Season 4

Comedy Central has put Obama's angry translator Luther in office for at least one more year. The network has ordered a fourth season of sketch-comedy show Key & Peele because Key & Peele is great. And as a bonus, Season 4 will be expanded to 22 episodes, up from 13 in Season 3. That means plenty more funny football names to come.

Series creators and stars Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael-Key will also have the opportunity to develop an animated series for Comedy Central based on their online characters Vandaveon and Mike. The two characters aren't actually featured in the show (as far as I know), but do online critiques of the episodes and pitch themselves as worthy additions to Key & Peele. The animated show would flashback to the two as 12-year olds in middle school.

There's no word on when Key & Peele's fourth season will air, but based on the last two seasons, it'll probably be in September.

Which Key & Peele characters are your favorites? (Vote for however many you like!)

That's belly button, my friend.
I couldn't believe we saw the belly button.
I've never seen the belly button on a woman before.
I thought it was a myth.
Yes, it's like the butthole of the belly.

Ah, this is good news. The sketches in this show are far more hit than miss as a rule and the guys seem to fully commit to whatever they do. They're great at slipping inside whatever characters they're playing, no matter how high- or low-brow they are. It's rare for any episode not to have at least one LOL moment for me, which is a real rarity.

I'm glad these guys seem to have caught fire. I was worried early on that it would be yet another good CC show that got cancelled way too early. I also recently learned that Ian Roberts (Agent Antoine from CC's excellent Upright Citizens Brigade show and a founding member of that troupe) is one of the showrunners and head writers. He found the least amount of success in front of the camera, so I'm glad to know he's got steady work behind the scenes somewhere. (It was so great to see the three male members of UCB together again on At Midnight on CC a week or two ago.)

It's pretty good. I don't watch it all the time, but "The President's translator" was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

This show is superior to every other sketch comedy show. It is very heartening to see two exceptionally close friends achieve success together. Two really good dudes.

I don't have any favorite characters, I like the show but a lot of the repeating characters are only funny when the sketches are spaced out from each other, like Meegan. Then again, the football players crazy names always seems like it's going to have outstayed its welcome and has 2 or 3 that get a big laugh (not to mention get as silly as real ones). The show's strength is in coming up with new sketches, not sticking to existing ones.

This. I LOVED the original substitute teacher sketch, but the second one lost a lot of its appeal to me.

The crazy football names sketch is something I don't think I'd ever get tired of though... but that's mostly because of how true to reality the joke is. I mean, some of the names you hear in college football nowadays... haha.

That's what I don't like about repeating character sketches most of the time, they try to recapture lightning in a bottle and it just doesn't measure up.

That said, the football names one really shouldn't work as well as it does, but they still come up with 'em almost as funny as real life.
