Comedy Central Renews South Park for Three More Seasons; Who Are Your Three Favorite Characters?

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are going to have to build a new cash silo to dump a bunch of money in, because Comedy Central has renewed their printing press South Park for three more seasons, according to TV Line. Each season will consist of 10 episodes.

That'll bring the long-running animated series up to Season 23 and keep the show on the air into 2019 (if the robots don't get us first). It will also push South Park past the 300-episode milestone, and most importantly, allow the franchise to continue breathing down The Simpsons' neck. (That series has been renewed through Season 28 and is on the hook for 625 episodes.)

In celebration of the South Park renewal, it's time to ask a moderately tangential question:

WHO ARE YOU THREE FAVORITE SOUTH PARK CHARACTERS?

I'll list mine, then you list yours in the comments, mmmmmkay?

1. Randy Marsh

2. Jimmy

3. Butters

Your turn.

South Park Season 19 is expected to premiere in September.

Voted for every character twice, because TV.com is still into 90's web design.

Disappointing that they've officially made it just 10 episodes a season from here on out, but if it helps them crank out that video game sequel, more power to them.

Randy, Butters, and Stan are my top three. Have to give an honorable mention to Scott Malkinson, though. Scott M. and Wayne G. are my two favorite extras ever. Now if we coul all just get our moms to "stop trippin', maing", I can get back to my reruns.

Butters, Kenny (love the Mysterion episodes) and than Butters again are my three. there is no doubt that there are a lot of characters that entertain but Butters episodes are always good for a laugh. My only complaint the last few seasons is the limit of 10 per season but I still enjoy most of the episodes, though sometimes they are a bit off.

I always wonder who makes the decision to limit the season to 10. Is it decided by Parker and Stone or by Comedy Central?

I know they make the episodes one week before they air. While they have ideas, it can often be last minute changes based on what is in the news. Maybe they got to the point where 10 weeks of non stop work was all they wanted. I do miss the longer seasons but I guess we take what we can get.

They don't make them one week before they air, they make them DURING the week they air. Usually, they transfer the episode to the station on the morning of airing day.
But they have a nice schedule, if you think about it. Ten weeks of realy hard work followed by 42 weeks of vacation ^^

I do not watch South Park any longer either, i used to. It was sometimes entertaining but often it just has too many problems. I voted Cartman though, because the stories with him is usually most interesting and he is often very funny. Not because he is a total asshole, but more because his voice and his stupid ideas. Butters is also funny so i voted him too but much too nice and innocent to really fit in with the show, i think. Randy kind of annoys me, not as bad though as the once i really dislike such as Terrence, Phillip and Towelie. Most of the others are just generally bland so i still voted for Randy. Cartman, Butters and Randy.

The feeling that Butters do not fit in also is the shows main problem, they are too much "all over the place" with characters, jokes, languages and so on, all the time. Are we making clever political parody, or just silly gags with poop and puke and semen? Are we portraying awful evil characters, normal characters, dumb characters or cute innocent ones? Are we preaching a moral message or a nihilistic one? Are we showing fun innocent gags and dialogue or extremely graphic bloody violence? We don't know, so let's just do it all at the same time and send very conflicting messages and vague points. It makes viewing SP extremely uneven sometimes they come across like clever satirists and sometimes like teens who just wants to curse and show sex and violence.

I haven't watched the show in years. Not that it's jumped the shark, I just can't make myself care any more.

The game was fun at least.

the only reason this renewal makes sense is that Simpsons cant do modern humour. South Park is built to be perennial...always current & always raw. [though its not a 'must-watch'.. but, without indifference, ...Simpsons stopped being funny 2 decades ago...& its still on the air - why FOX..WHY?]

over the years though, the incumbent favs change with (im)maturity.

my high school years, cartman, kenny [ie many deaths of kenny] & satan [w/sadam ..'hey guy'..].

as an older, wiser, stupider adult with responsibility's & other shit to do... Mr Mackey, Randy & Timmy. [timmmehhhh!!] [4th Butters]

- there was a 2015 south park fan showdown on fav character,.. you can googlebingyahoo that shit...

To me, the show lost something when the animation started getting more sophisticated around season 8 or 9. There are still some good episodes, and I'll probably continue to watch until the end, but it's not nearly as enjoyable as it used to be.

Every time I turn on Comedy Central that isn't 10pm to 12:30am, South Park or a terrible movie is playing. Unfortunately, my love for South Park faded a few years ago when Cartman became their unrepentant laziness incarnate, just doing and saying whatever to get a laugh while pushing an incredibly phony sociopolitical view, so I just flip channels instead of watching.

I clicked Mackey, Stan, and Kyle.

Too many to name.

But since I HAVE to pick three, I'll go with...

Kyle
Stan
Mr. Mackey
