After nearly getting canceled at the end of last season, Chuck signed off with a cool finale that turned the title character into a fighting machine.
That introduced an interesting problem for the series, given that Chuck (Zachary Levi) is a wimpy big-box employee with a brain full of secret government downloads. Until the finale, he needed protection so the bad guys wouldn't kill him. Going forward, how will the show's writers handle a guy who can handle himself?
Well, as TV.com learned at the show's Comic-Con panel, Chuck's new-found fighting skills may suffer from a few glitches -- and thus still require the help of government handlers Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).
"Appetite whetted!" producer Josh Schwartz proclaimed during the event. Schwartz also confirmed that Corina (Mini Anden) -- a DEA agent femme fatale who popped out of Sarah's past -- will return to the show, and that things will continue to heat up between Sarah and Chuck.
The panel joked and played with the audience, but the biggest cheers came when Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) rocked out as "Jeffster" -- an improvised a capella group formed the night before when Krinsky, Sahay, and Zach Levi broke out into song on an escalator at the Hilton.
That impromptu rehearsal certainly paid off during the panel performance.
The season two DVD of Chuck will be in stores on December 15. Season three will return sometime in 2010.
