Community and Parks and Recreation Are No Longer on the Cancellation Bubble

Will the NBC comedies who've been renewed please take a step forward?

(The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, Outsourced, and Perfect Couples all step forward.)

Ah ah! Not so fast, Outsourced and Perfect Couples!

NBC had previously renewed 30 Rock and today the network officially renewed The Office, which was no big surprise. But it also gave additional seasons to Parks and Recreation and Community, officially making me a happy man. The fates of the latter two were just a tad in question, but that is true no more.

This trio of renewals doesn't necessarily mean that Outsourced and Perfect Couples are doomed to the soup kitchen. NBC will likely hold off on making decisions on those shows until it can get a better look at the NBC pilots that are currently in-development, which appear to be a decent crop. There are three potential slots left to fill (should NBC continue its three-hour comedy block), so one would think they have a decent shot. But don't forget that NBC is under new management, so the schedule could easily be shaken up for next fall. If I had to guess, I'd say NBC will try its luck with three new comedies. But what do i know?

In the meantime, let's all be happy that Community will be back. And Parks and Recreation and The Office, too.
