Community's Yvette Nicole Brown Joins CBS's Odd Couple Reboot

Community's Yvette Nicole Brown has booked a very odd new gig.

The actress has joined CBS's upcoming remake of The Odd Couple remake in a recurring role, TV.com has confirmed.

The comedy stars Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon as the titular pairing of slobbish Oscar Madison and neat-freak Felix Unger, with Perry also co-writing and executive-producing. Brown takes over the role of Oscar's assistant, Dani, who was played by Sarah Baker (Go On) in the original pilot. Baker and New Normal alum Georgia King exited the series in May as part of a creative retooling.

The character of Dani is described as a tactful and polished woman who is forced to spend most of her workday apologizing for Oscar's offensive ways. However, Dani has little (a.k.a. zero) short-term memory.

But how will the new job affect Brown's role on Community? Fans of the series needn't worry, as the actress is still expected to reprise her role as Shirley in the new season of the canceled NBC comedy, which was resurrected by Yahoo in June for a 13-episode sixth season

The Odd Couple is expected to premiere sometime midseason on CBS.

Sounds like: "She's beautiful, and talented, and strong, but clumsy." Try again.

Hmmm.................who will she be playing? One of the pigeon sisters? No. Gloria? No. Blanche? No. Myra Turner? No. Murray's wife? No. Miriam? Dr. Cunningham? Yeah, that's it, Felix or Oscar will be dating a black woman.

I know, she can play pushover Paige, the woman who tries to buy the car Felix and Oscar won!

Oh. Wait. That's right. Neil Simon didn't write in any parts for a black person, did he? NO, he didn't.

No matter, it will be shit anyway.

Oh dear, that sounds like a very forced and annoying character to add to this mix. I think this might be the tipping point against the series, that's a pretty big retread to slap on so late in development.
