Complete Skins cast axed again

Naomi, Cook, Emily and the gang are to suffer the same fate as their Skins predecessors -- being axed after just two series on the show.

Producers of the popular teen drama, which saw its original characters dropped after the second series, have decided to let their latest cast go too; meaning that if the show was picked up for a fifth series it too would welcome an entirely new cast of kids.

Talking to entertainment website DigitalSpy this weekend, Megan Prescott who plays controlling twin Katie Fitch said: "It's a bit sad but we always knew [this would happen]."

"It's the best way to do it," added Ollie Barbieri, who plays excitable student JJ: "That way you get something fresh every two years; it's not going to get stale."

Series four of Skins is currently in production in Bristol and is set to air on E4 in January 2010.

Old news. Everyone's known this since before Series 3 even aired. It was even on Wikipedia.

your asking your audience to invest in regaining an emotional connection to the characters every 2 years... in this case i dont care because series 3 was rubbish anyway, and repeated the same stories of the first. If you assk me go back to the original cast...

That's a shame. Though probably inevitable. They never made it clear that that was what was going to happen in the first series, and nothing was said about this cast until now. I know it's set in a sixth form and that's what happens in them, but no other show completely replaces the cast. To me it still comes as somewhat of a shock.

It's a bit strange to describe it as 'being axed' and the original characters 'being dropped'. I thought the idea from the very beginning was to show the two years of sixth form college for the characters but not beyond, so every Skins cast member is going to know that they're only in it for two years anyway.
