Corrie Lloyd to fall for lap-dancer

Lloyd Mullaney will fall in love with
Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah)

Lloyd, played by Craig Charles, will meet Cheryl (former Grange Hill star Holly Quin-Ankrah) in the Rovers Return, when she comes to the cobbles for a drink with old friend Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Series editor Louise Sutton told the soap's official website that Cheryl catches the eye of all the men in the pub, and Lloyd is stunned when she seems to take a shine to him.

Louise said: "He soon learns she's a lap-dancer but, far from being put off, he falls head-over-heels in love with her as he becomes her regular taxi driver."

However, Cheryl tries to keep the smitten taxi driver at arm's length.

As details of her troubled personal life emerge, viewers will realise Lloyd is putting is heart and his safety on the line.

Holly said: "I'm really happy to be joining Coronation Street. It feels great and it's been really exciting seeing the set and meeting the cast. It's pretty scary too when you're sat in the Rovers filming a scene with Ken and Deirdre sat next to you!"

Cheryl will make her first appearance in April.
