Betty Williams will get the sack from
the Rovers
According to The Sun, Betty - played by Betty Driver - tells locals: "Sacked, after all the years I've given this place. Annie Walker - now that was somebody to be sacked by. Alec Gilroy and Bet - at least they sacked people with a bit of class.
"But to get my cards from that madam Poppy when she's not even been here two minutes, it's nothing short of scandalous."
But regular viewers needn't fret - the actress isn't leaving the soap.
An insider told the newspaper: "Betty is a viewers' favourite. She's got a place here as long as she wants it. She's more of a fixture than the cobbles.
"She'll be here for a long time to come - she'll just be on the other side of the bar for a change."
