Bad news first: ABC has canceled Cougar Town. Boo! Good news second: TBS has saved it. Yay! The cable channel will become the new home of the Courteney Cox-starring comedy, and has picked up the show for a 15-episode fourth season with an eye on early 2013 for the show's TBS debut.
Word of TBS getting involved in discussions to save the show broke last week as it became more and more apparent that its future at ABC was murky. The arrangement is currently only for one season, but could expand if TBS decides the experiment works. As part of the deal, TBS also snatched up the rights to air the first three seasons of Cougar Town in syndication. This is a best-case scenario, because if TBS hadn't stepped in, the show likely would have disappeared forever. Everyone wins!
With Cougar Town, TBS continues to expand its comedy presence with series that don't feature Tyler Perry's name. The network is debuting three new comedies this summer: Men at Work, Sullivan & Son, and Wedding Band.
Cougar Town is saved! Why not go drink a box of wine (and then leave some happy, drunken comments) to celebrate?
