Ye olde television machine continued forth, with pilot orders handed out like pink slips all week long. Pilot season continued to be in full swing yesterday, with ABC ordering up test episodes for six projects and CBS doing the same with three.
For ABC, Cougar Town comes from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. Courteney Cox is attached to star in the comedy, which isn't necessarily about older man-eating women living in the same neighborhood--even though it involves Cox playing a single 40-something mom. The Cougars are actually the local high school's mascots... or so they say.
Other big names attached to new ABC pilots include Kelsey Grammer and Cedric the Entertainer. Grammer's comedy plugs him as a former Wall Street wiz who reconnects with his family after being laid off, and Cedric the Entertainer will star and write a comedy about reserve LAPD officers.
The other ABC shows are: Canned, about a group of friends who all become unemployed at the same time and an untitled project about a clumsy mom and her troubles raising her three kids.
CBS is sticking with dramas, giving a shot to Confessions of a Contractor from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. The program will be based on the book of the same name, about a successful contractor living in Los Angeles.
The network's other two projects include I Witness, about a female detective, and an untitled drama about a family of doctors, continuing CBS' push for a watch-worthy medical drama.

I miss Dirt! so much!! I don't think Cougar Town will be half as good. But I'll give it a try. When does it start?
She looks terrible recently! Her profile and photos were found on the millionaire celebrity dating club '^^^^^^^C e l e b M i n g l e. C o M ^^^^^^^' not long before! "She is very picky about guys," according to officials of that site.
Courteney wish you all the best in Cougar Town, but I sure do miss your former sitcom Dirt on FX.
I hope Cougar Town does well for Courtney Cox, i always liked her.
I guess I'll try the new show with Courteney. I liked Dirt ;)
Hey, have you guys heard that this one appeared on the hot hook-up club " c e l e b m i n g l e. c o m " for wealthy singles to hook up for Love and Sexy dating?
Anything with Shawn Ryan involved I will watch, so definitely "Confessions of a Contractor". Shame it's not going to be on cable, though.
Like Ashs911 said, I'll give most shows a shot at least for the pilot. It would be stupid to dismiss something on premise alone. The Grammer and Cedric the Entertainer shows doesn't sound too bad, and I'm a big Scrubs fan, so I'll at least check out the Bill Lawrence comedy.
None of this sounds particulary watch-worthy.
I will give the pilots a chance. Sometimes a show premise gives you the wrong impression of the show, so I'm willing to try new shows to see if they are worth watching. Had I rejected shows purely based on premise I'd have never started watching shows like "The Big Bang Theory" which is now one of my favourite shows.
I'm not too sure any of these are very appealing. I love Scrubs so maybe Bill Lawrence can pull another one out of the bag.
Well -- Bill Lawrence with Courtney Cox. Now I guess I understand the whole guest starring stunt at the start of this new season.
Everything mentioned sounds horrible! Won't be watching any new TV this season i guess.
