The actress's alter ego, Maisie Wylde, has been on a downward spiral since discovering her lover Ryan Lamb (James Sutton) was really her half-brother.
Alice said: "It's certainly draining - it's wonderfully challenging and what you want to be doing as an actor but you pay a price for it."
She went on: "By the end of December I was doing 13-hour days. You're going through a trauma. Even though you're acting it your body is going through it, you're crying all day.
"After a few weeks of doing that 13 hours a day, six days a week, physiologically it really affects you. I'd go home and start crying at my boyfriend for one tiny little thing he'd done because the emotions are right at the top of your chest as that's where you've been holding them all day for your performance. It's hard to switch off."
