The CW has announced the premiere dates for its first fall season. The network is being formed by the merging of UPN and The WB and will include many shows from those networks, as well as new fare such as Veronica Mars.
Dawn Ostroff, president of the new network, told the TV Critics Press tour that there will be last minute tweaks as the fall season approaches. Vacant slots such as Monday, September 18; Tuesday, September 19; and Thursday, September 21 might be filled with the previous season finales of returning series' or a special the network is creating highlighting it's slate of shows.
"We just want a few days to iron out all the kinks and make sure everything is up and running," Ostroff said.
The CW fall season blasts off Wednesday, September 22 with a two-hour America's Next Top Model. The Tyra Banks reality competition is returning for a seventh cycle wherein hopeful models vie for the coveted title.
The following Friday, September 22, the baby net squeezes out Friday Night Smackdown, the ever-popular wrestling series. On Monday, September 25, the ball really gets rolling with the season premieres of 7th Heaven and new show Runaway.
Heaven was canceled by the WB at the end of the 2005-2006 season but got a reprieve at the last minute. Ostroff insisted that the expensive show--which lost the WB $16 million last season--will not be a money loser for the new network.
"One of the advantages of this being a joint venture [is that] we won't lose anything on 7th Heaven," Ostroff said of the financial sharing between the Warner Bros. and UPN parent CBS Corp.
The rest of the week features the return of Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, and One Tree Hill. Sunday, October 1 will mark the debut of an all-comedy block of Everybody Hates Chris (this season will feature a guest appearance by Whoopi Goldberg), All of Us, Girlfriends and its spin-off, The Game. On Tuesday, October 3, rabid fans will have their deepest dreams realized with the return of TV's coolest, and hottest, young detective, Veronica Mars (in which Veronica heads off to college).
The CW also has new series Hidden Palms and Reba waiting in the wings as possible mid-season replacements. Last week, the network revealed it had beat analysts' predictions about how much money it would earn in ad sales for its first year.

In response to the very first post you should contact your cable company because not every channel is the same in every single city. You better make sure your cable company is even going to carry it.

Yayy. Veronica mars is coming back. Its my favorite show of all time. it sucks how i have to wait months to see it tho. =[ But its worth that wait for sure.
Veronica Mars is set on the perfect day. October third is the day (for those of you who don't know) Lilly was murdered so I'll be able to have my little Lilly thing and then sit down to a new episode. I wish they would have done it right after Gilmore Girls.

I'm not a VM fan myself, but it's a dumb move to premier it LAST. Every single CW and WB article I see has a pic of VM on it, so it must be one of their best shows. Why would they premier it so late?

Am I the only Veronica Mars fan here that is a little worried over the fact that the CW will not be premiering Veronica Mars along with Gilmore Girls? I mean why premier every other show along with their coupled show and not Veronica Mars? It is obvious why they are premiering America's Next Top Model in a 2 hour premier; it is the network's heighest rated show on their schedual.
Still my question is this,why such a delay in premiering Veronica Mars and more importantly are they intending on showing a repeat episode after the GG premier?
Wouldn't it be in the network's best interest in perhaps devoting a full week in showing each series' season final along with previews to that show's new season? I think what they are doing is a terrible move...moreless

It will be on the same channel as The WB. Example: If you have Directv, The WB is channel 30. That will be the channel that The CW will be on. Also, can't wait for new episodes of Supernatural.

Wow surpizingly the WB and UPN shows are on CW. I guess they both want to fail again.
I see they are putting VM up agaisnt House, The Unit, and Law and Order CI. Like that's going to get a lot of viewers.
I can not believe that they are putting Supernatural up against CSI and Grey's Anatomy. Also not a very good way to get viewers. I will only be watching Supernatural, VM, and Gilmore Girls. At least I'm glad that I have DVR cause I'll have to record Supernatural
Its called the World Series. Why put Veronica Mars up against that especially when you are trying to win viewers. Not smart to start it when no one will watch.

Many of the shows were pushed back it seems. Supernatural was set to premiere on the 21 but was pushed back a week.
