CW pulls plug on Online Nation

It's time to bust out the bugle and let rip some "Taps"; we have the television season's first full-fledged cancellation.

The CW has axed its Web-savvy show Online Nation, according to a report from Variety. Online Nation was barely in its infancy, having only premiered less than a month ago on September 23.

Though the program attempted to tap into youth culture by basing a show around Internet video clips and other online fodder, viewers just didn't log in. Airing on Sunday nights, Online Nation tanked--the last episode was seen by only 580,000 viewers.

In its place, The CW will air repeats of its new critically praised comedy Aliens in America.

Online Nation has the unfortunate distinction of being this season's first officially canceled show, but the crown may actually end up in the hands of another. Fox pulled country-music reality show Nashville a few weeks ago, saying it would return again. However, industry consensus is that its return is questionable.
