CW readies kids' cartoon block

Superman, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, and Tom and Jerry are among the familiar characters that will be featured in new series on the 2006 to '07 schedule of Kids' WB!, a five-hour animation block that will move to the CW when it launches in the fall.

The "Too Big for Your TV"-themed schedule, which kicks off in September, will feature four new series, four returning series, and two series that will compose the Pillow Head Hour, a block of programming designed to meet federally mandated education and informational programming requirements.

The new series are Legion of Super Heroes, based on the DC Comics characters and featuring Superboy, who would grow up to become Superman, fighting evil in the 31st century; Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! featuring the duo solving more mysteries with the help of a transforming Mystery Machine; and Tom and Jerry Tales, featuring the cat and mouse chasing each other in comedic cartoon shorts.

In addition, Kids' WB! also will present the US television premiere of Monster Allergy, a half-hour show based on the comic book series of the same name about a 12-year-old Zick, whose allergies have given him the ability to see invisible supernatural monsters.

Returning to the schedule are The Batman, Loonatics Unleashed, Xiaolin Showdown, and Johnny Test.

The two series that will comprise the Pillow Head Hour, featuring interstitial segments hosted by "youth correspondent" Gisselle, will be announced at a later date.

Kids' WB!--created for a target audience of ages 6 to 11--airs from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
