Damages, Nip/Tuck set returns

Mad Men may have made most of the noise in recent award ceremonies for cable dramas, but another mouthwatering cabler that didn't do too shabby should not be overlooked. FX today officially rolled out the return date of Emmy-winner Damages, as well as another of its original programs, Nip/Tuck.

Damages, which won Emmys for lead actress (Glenn Close) and supporting actor (Zeljko Ivanek) this year, returns for its second season on January 7 at 10 p.m. Season two will run for 13 episodes.

The legal drama and critics' favorite stars Close as Patty Hewes, a ruthless high-stakes litigation lawyer, and Rose Byrne as Ellen Parsons, her whip-smart underling who questions Hewes' practices. The already-stellar cast has been bolstered this season by the additions of William Hurt (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River), and Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood).

Nip/Tuck will premiere the conclusion of its fifth season on January 6 at 10 p.m. (the last episode of season five aired last February). Season five has eight remaining episodes.

The controversial Nip/Tuck centers on Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), a pair of plastic surgeons who moved to Los Angeles in season five. Guest stars this season include Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), and John Schneider (CHiPs).

Damages looks like it will return stronger than ever, and Nip/Tuck is always a blast to watch. Which one are you more excited for?

I used to love Nip/Tuck on guilty pleasure level but I just think it went boring in season 4 and over the top awful(yes not good over the top like before) in season 5.

N/T makes a great guilty pleasure show, but I can't wait for Damages, only recently got the chance to watch season 1, and I was totally hooked from the 1st ep to the last.

I'm more excited about Damages definitely. It's got clever writing and an amazing oscar-worthy cast, much better than Nip/Tuck anyday!

I loved Damages! I think it was the only show I ever watched from beginning to end each night a new episode aired. No tivo'ing and watching a night or two later.

I've been with "Nip/Tuck" forever but "Damages" is just amazing. I can't wait to see how Ellen plots her revenge. And of course Glenn Close is the best actress in history. She doesn't need an Oscar to prove it.
