Day Break kaput, Raines wrapped

The Day is over.

Day Break, the serial drama starring Taye Diggs as a man forced to relive the same day over and over until he finds out who framed him for murder, has been pulled from ABC's schedule. The network will run the remaining episodes at ABC.com.

Day Break is the third show ABC has pulled from its schedule in the past few days. The alphabet also yanked the sinking Ted Danson comedy Help Me Help You and the underperforming William Shatner game show Show Me the Money.

At NBC, production on midseason drama Raines has been wrapped. The network originally ordered 13 episodes of the cop show starring Jeff Goldblum but now will air seven. Raines premieres in March.

its a pitty they did not make a new day break i mean if they did not have a story to go on then at least do it with someone else who is repeting the same day and meets hooper who isent doing the day over and each day they give each other clues on what is happening to get to the tommorow, there just done a new story for a new day break come on ABC do another season and dont leave us with bad tv shows anymore. If Day Break isn't going to return, at least give us a dvd set with commentaries to wrap everything up.

Let's hear it for short sighted network executives who are more interested in making money off the Insurance than revenues from a successful show. Hell even a truely entertaining show would be hard pressed to make it without something contriversial happening every week. Perhaps dunk the network exec's in Krazy glue, after each weeks show? It sounds like a good plan too me.

This was a GREAT series, but really... I wonder what else they could have done with it. Once the days started moving forward (yes, the repeated the second day a few times at the end) and the case was solved, what else could they have done with it? That was the end of the uniqueness of the show. What would we expect? For Hopper to get stuck repeating another day? That would just be (ho hum) repeating the same idea over again. No, they ended it well, and that is better than dragging someone out beyond its usefullness.

I also liked this series. Now I am boycotting ABC until they finish the series. I dont really care what time they do it, they just need to finish it and I am happy. Others should also boycott ABC until its finished!! You just dont start a series and end it more than half way through!! Losers~!!

Ok,I have to say there is nothing wrong with the way DayBreak started and definately nothing wrong with black men and white women(though she is korean and white) making love. That said, get rid of LOST (it stinks and makes no real sense) and keep shows like DayBreak.

My son and I were wondering what happend to such a great show that for once we could not wait till Wed. What a big let down and as for those other shows. GET REAL! I watch National Geographic and Animal planet now. I hope Day Break finds it's way back.

Only 13 episodes of Day Break filmed and they couldn't even finish it's SHORT Run??? Finally get a show on that is completely enjoyable and keeps you in the suspense and "Pfft, You Were Gone"!! Keep putting those Crappy Moronic Sitcoms on that people with a 55 IQ can watch. No wonder I'm always watching NBC, USA & TNT Networks for Quality programming.

OH GREAT! I went to download the new shows, and it says 'only viewer in the United States can watch these full-length episodes'. I'm in Canada, so if anyone knows where else I can see these, I would appreciate it.

I guess ABC demonstrated that they don't care about their viewers, and now demonstrates that they don't care about Canadians either.

The only thing companies understands is sponsorship income. You need to affect sponsors, or boycott products that no longer support your shows to effect any change.

I think it's pretty short sighted of ABC to cancel DayBreak. It seems today that a new show needs to be #1 in it's time-slot, or its cancelled.

ABC has to take into account not only the size of the audience, but the DEPTH of passion for the show. People that watched DayBreak watched it every week, without fail. It's not just a show that they 'like', it's a show they were pasionate about. Hopefully another network will pick it up (like JAG) and give it a second chance.

When I found out Day Break was canceled, I nearly cried. I couldn't believe it. I touted to all my friends that this was the best show on TV. They became hooked too. The best writing and directing I have ever seen. I watched every week in awe as to how they pulled this concept off. ABC sucks. Too bad for Grey's Anatomy because it is the only show on ABC which makes ABC worth watching. LOST has been gone for so long, I don't even care anymore. Desperate Housewives was so riduculous last season, it pains me to watch it this season.

I don't want ABC to bring Day Break back. Let another network pick it up and make it a hit.

I am truly disappointed that Day Break was cancelled. It had me hooked from the beginning. I couldn't wait until the next week to see what new clues would be discovered. My mom wasn't interest at first but got hooked by the third episode. I really miss this show. The acting was awesome. I hope ABC realized that they made a big mistake and bring back Day Break. I see I'm not the only one who things so. BRING It BACK!!!!!

I cannot believe that ABC has cancelled the THIRD show in the past couple of months that I have really gotten into. It all started with "How to Get the Guy". I know a lot of people that really enjoyed that show and one day it was just gone. Then came Six Degrees. I thought it was an awesome premise and then it just ended. There are supposedly airing the final 7 episodes of Season 1 before May of 2007 but after that, it will no longer be on the air either. Now, they cancelled Day Break. I absolutely loved this show. My friend and I got together each week on the scheduled nights to watch all three of these shows and all three of them have been cancelled. How can you take away such good shows? I really enjoyed watching all of them and for them to just end is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe it. I don't know if I will ever get into another ABC show for the fear that one minute I'll be watching it and the next it will be gone. I am so angry and I think ABC should bring back Day Break.

Words cannot completely express my disappointment in this decision as well as in the ABC network; however I will try. When this show first began I was kind of skeptical as this scenario had been used before in movies and on TV. But after watching the premier episode, I was hooked. Each episode drew me in deeper; leaving me wondering what could happen next and eagerly awaiting the next episode. But of course in usual ABC fashion, it was pulled from the line up. Believe me, if it wasn't for Judge Mathis, GH, and One Life I would not watch any ABC.

There are still a lot of good programs on network television, but aside from enjoyable characters and wacky storyline in "Desperate Housewives" keeping me interested, none of these exists on ABC. Even "Lost" LOST my interest in season two. Based on viewership, NBC has been called the 4th network. In my opinion, based on what's offered, it should be ABC. Heck, even the CW outranks ABC in this household, pushing it back to #5.

"Day Break" was innovative (reminiscent of "12:01pm", a Showtime original long before "Groundhog Day") and very involving. Knowing the events that will occur again and again and trying to change it is frustrating and ambitious. So was this show. Looks like we can lock this program away in the vault of nice trys right next to "Cop Rock."

Well, my bad...I should have known better.

I promised myself that I would not ever, EVER, get involved in another ABC-TV network show...this, after these bozos cancelled the BRILLIANT Jeremy Piven comedy "Cupid" in early 1998 after a short run...one just as short as "Day Break".

Well, again...my bad. I should have known better...it's deja vu all over again, just like "Day Break". Another great show, another premature end.

Do any--ANY--of you network executives "out there" (and it seems like you ARE "out there") have ANY clue as to why we are leaving Broadcast TV programming for cable/direcTV in DROVES? I don't know that the exodus from radio to TV in the 1950s was this pronounced.

This sucks big time. Will they release all the (12) episodes on DVD by any chance? Day break was great, and I can not believe that they canceled it! How about some more golf, or "CSI - Allentown, PA", or something more exciting like 12 hours of NASCAR (wow, cars going arround in circles, now that's a good idea!) ABC stands for A Bunch of Cretins...whatever I am out of here:)

Unbelievable! I just found out that Day Break was cancelled. When I first found out, I doubted the story because the show was so good. It just doesn't make sense. Yeah, maybe they would have difficulty making 8 season of the show, because you can only show "the same day" so many times. With the great mystery that was developed, suspense, and acting, the show could have a handful of successful seasons. The only shows that I have really dove into were Alias, LOST, and DayBreak. Having to put up with this LONG break in the current LOST season, overdone reality tv shows, and now great shows being cut halfway through the season, it makes me want to invest my time in another area of entertainment. It's not difficult to do either with all the options that we have in entertainment. These network executives at ABC need to start seeing the big picture or else they will have to learn the hard way. People will simply go elsewhere!

ABC is the dregs of all the networks. There are only 2 shows worth watching on the network (Lost & Desperate Housewives), now that "The Nine" and "Daybreak" are canceled. (Although they keep hinting about bringing NINE back, it'll die a slow death twisting in ABCs uncertanty)

They like catering to the lowest common denominator, so that they can sell ads to companies that only stupid people would buy from.

Even "Housewives" is built for stupid people, but the writing is edgy & intelligent enough to (barely) keep me interested.

Instead, they keep on churning out lousy game shows that dumb people can understand & win; & dumb sitcoms that dumb people can understand the jokes. Sure Funniest Videos is funny, but I only watched it when it was on against nothing else on Sundays; if ABC wants better viewership they need to make shows that are better than the opposition; & create other good shows that are decent lead-ins, and then don't try to schedule them to beat the very best of the other networks; although it is hard to schedule against CBS's strong offerings almost every night of the week; they could put their good shows up against the other networks reality shows and more people would watch, and then develop other series that aren't reality & regrow the network.

Daybreak could have been the next "Alias"; The Nine would have benefitted from not trying to carbon copy "Lost" -- let it try to build it's own following on another night. And treat series better than you do now: You had a good one last year in "Invasion"; but it was hard to keep track of when a new episode would come on instead of a rerun - then it was moving - then it was back on its old night - then it was being cancelled - then it was brought back - then it was cut short!

When I saw the fall schedule, except for The Nine, which I was skeptical of, but decided to try because I like Tim Daly, the only other interesting shows were mid season replacements. Now I've only seen 1 of the promising ones (Daybreak) air, and ABC continue to kill shows that have a little intelligence to them.

And I do agree with whoever said ABC was trying to kill off Lost, it is ABC's "all or nothing" mentality with trying to get top ratings during sweeps by starting series early to let them cliffhanger in fall sweeps, then letting viewers suffer until almost spring sweeps to restart series; instead it lets viewers get into other series that we've built interest into, instead of watching for parts of 6 months & then having the timeslot go to another dumb reality show!!

ABC made a huge mistake. The only time I ever watched ABC was when Daybreak was on. It's safe to say that I'm never watching ABC again. I'm just ending it here because I could go on all day with reasons why Daybreak should still be on ABC.

I like others in my family were immediately hooked on Day Break from the very first episode. I've looked at what ABC is bringing back in place of Day Break (America's Funniest Videos) and I'm very disappointed. The show (Day Break) was packed not only with energy and suspense, but very good acting as well. All the characters seemed as if they were made for their parts and they all flowed together smoothly in the series. ABC, BRING BACK DAY BREAK! If not, maybe some other network will pick it up; or maybe it could be picked up and taken to the "Big Screen". My family loves Day Break and the cast and crew and we want it back!!!

Day Break was the only thing I ever watched on ABC, with the exception of their Columbo TV Movie 3 or 4 years back, and their cancellation of Day Break assures me that I will never watch this network again.

Do they honestly think that shows like "Desperate Housewives", "The Knights of Prosperity", "In Case of Emergency", and "According to Jim" are gonna bring in the ratings, while edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting action like found in "Day Break" won't?

Ted Danson's show "Help Me Help You" was just a blatant and obvious attempt by ABC to migrate loyal "Becker" re-run fanatics to their network.

As for the cancellation of William Shatner's game show, "Show Me The Money", in spite of being a Trekkie I never watched much of it, but ABC could've given it more of a chance, as well.

As another poster mentioned, it really discourages you from watching new shows.

I was a big fan of the NBC show "Conviction", and they cancelled it-but at least NBC gave them the dignity of an entire season!

Right now, in spite of what any ratings may say, NBC and FX are the best stations for original Dramatic programming. While ABC is full of drab sitcoms with two-dimensional characters, re-used jokes and predictable plotlines.

America's Funniest Home Videos?

Yeah, that's what I wanna watch for a whole hour, dumb people wanting to get on television at the expense of the welfare of themselves, their friends, sometimes even their pets, all for an obviously-staged, poor-quality video clip (after all, who leaves their camcorder on all the time?) a few cheap laughs and a chance at the root of all evil-money.

If I wanted to see that, I'd watch another sorry network, MTV.

ABC, you just kicked manure into the face of everyone who ever wasted their time watching your station by cancelling Day Break.

And I'd sooner watch Public Access than any ABC show ever again...

Dj Tetro here,

As mentioned a few comments back they will be showing this great if misunderstood series on BRAVO channel in the UK soon along with Blade:the series and some other stuff!

I have no doubts that they will show all filmed episodes of the series and no doubt this will be promoted as a UK only exclusive showing much like sky tv did with Jake 2.0 a few years back when they screened the last 4 episodes after the American network scrapped it .

I too tend to download most us tv as we are behind on most series here compared to other countries and i can agree with most feelings that the network have not kept to their word of showing all episodes but kept showing other rubbish thats worse [lol]...

Although i do see that the O.C has gone which is a surprise in itself [lol]

I hear though that there's gonna be a eality show soon called HOW 2 RUN YA NETWORK which follows 12 no hoper's who have never watched tv week by week until only 1 is left and they will run a tv network for 1 month!! maybe they've been beta testing this concept at ABC!

Until next time, that's all folks

Pick your audience ABC.

As an Aussie viewer I have been fortunate enough to pick up this series and see it in advance.

Unfortunately for some, they just don't get it!

However, I have to say that this is a bloody fine show and people are willing to invest a bit of the grey matter in it, then it is one hell of a ride.

Be smart - bring it back.

Or at least sell it down under where it will be appreciated.

A.B.C HAS TO BE OUT OF THEIR MINDS.......the cancellation of DAY BREAK was not warranted by the fans.........day break was the best show on television. while waiting on prison break and 24 to comeback i found a gem, a diamond in the rough but that has been taken away from me and also the thousands of other fans........... what does A.B.C has to say for themselves now!!!!!!!!!!! they lost a great thinking persons show!!!

Invasion, Day Break ... the question is, is Lost #3 on the chopping block of excellent shows that ABC can't market properly - the word of mouth they thrive on in good times, is ignored when we want to have a say or get an explanation as to why it was cancelled (and low ratings is cop-out bull - - - - excuse)

Broadcast television is (I'm purposely being mean, rude and elitist) pretty much geared for stupid people... or intellectually lazy people. Is there any other explanation to the prime time schedule? Just look at Wednesdays and see all the glorious programming that remains while Daybreak has been axed: Beauty and the Geek, Armed and Famous, According to Jim, Deal or No Deal. I can safely say that anyone who chooses one of the former programs over an episode of Daybreak clearly qualifies for a ride on the short bus. I'm tired of soccer moms and text-messaging teens dictating what is going to be broadcast on a nightly basis. I've heard the litany of excuses... Everyone is tired at the end of the day, everybody is busy and just wants to unwind, I get it. Watching television should be an engaging activity. Turning on the magic box doesn't require a shutdown of all motor function in the cerebral cortex. Television isn't a babysitter, it's not your therapist and it's not a night light/noise machine.

Furthermore, I thought ABC was the network that "changed" the TV landscape with Lost and Desperate Housewives and serialized story-telling? It's reassuring to know that as soon as they found their own "Reality hit," they put that silly idea of original storytelling to bed. Cancelling Daybreak was the proverbial "last nail" for any hope of actual drama on network tv... for me at least. If the people want bad karaoke, dance competitions and softcore images of emaciated teens fondling each other well then... "Let them eat cake."

I will be watching something on cable.

TV is a race to the bottom. Only the stupidest, most idiotic shows have a remote chance of staying on the air. ABC deserves to go bankrupt, but on their way down, they'll probably lobby Congress to make it crime to allow the public to watch anything that doesn't have fart jokes, canned laughter, cheesy strobe lights and plastic boobs.

It's just unbelievable what TV has turned into - 250 channels of utter crap, and when a show like Daybreak comes along, the friggin morons in Hollywood can't even figure out that the show is even halfway good.

I never thought I'd find "Marvels of Offshore Oil Rig Engineering" and "How Toilet Paper is Made" to be more entertaing than the reality/sitcom/talent putrefaction these guys spew out, but we've long since passed that point, I think.

And I'll be throwing my TV off the roof before I go buy some HD flat panel number. What is there to watch? When the industry isn't shooting themsleves in the head, they're shooting each other.

The last good series I watched was "Da Vinci's Inquest", and it was made in Vancouver. Production isn't moving to Canada because it's cheaper, it's because they don't have silicone brain implants like they seem to have in Hollywood....

Bah! I'm disgusted with this move by ABC. I thought it'd be a holiday break and have been checking the tv schedule to see when it's coming back on. WHAT? CANCELLED? MIDSEASON? That's insane! 24 took a while to get going too! My family loved this show. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth and distrust of network "Premiers". Why would I want to watch a new series? It's like getting halfway into an awesome book only to find the last half of the pages have been torn away and there aren't any more copies in print! I don't watch a whole lot of TV either (most shows are glossed over crap) but this one had me hooked. AT LEAST give us the rest of the episodes online so we can see the ending. UGH. FINISH WHAT YOU START! Or don't bother starting it. I know I won't be so eager to start watching a new series. Shame on whomever made this decision.

Have they gone insane ? Wow, what do they want out of a show ? Are they trying to please the fans or the advertisers ? Probably themselves given that they put on ANOTHER COP SHOW !*#!! ABC give the fans a break - allow the show to grow. It was painful surfing past the George Lopez reruns.

Day Break was my all time favorite TV show right behind Lost. What on earth is ABC doing pulling incredible TV shows like Day Break and The Nine. What next, will they pull Lost as well??? I am starting to not trust ABC's programming because just when I start to really get into a show they pull it. If they will not air these show then they should at least have enough respect for their audience to at least make them available on line or sell them on DVD. Please STOP teasing us ABC or loss us, who once was your loyal fan base!!!

I am NOT happy ABC cancelled Day Break. This was a promised filler until February. It was promised there would be 14 episodes, no reruns, would be every Wednesday, with a definite conclusion to the show. That was ABC's promise because of this huge gap before LOST is aired again.

Now I see that even the promised ABC.com viewing will not happen???

I'm not happy that LOST will not run until February but having this exciting show, Day Break, to watch did appease me a bit. But now? Forget ABC. Can't trust their word. They should have let Day Break run it's course. I don't even think I'll return to ABC in February. I have better things to do than be jacked around by ABC.
