Will & Grace star Debra Messing has signed on to play a Hollywood divorcee in USA Network's limited series The Starter Wife.
The six-hour series, based on Gigi Levangie Grazer's best-selling novel, centers on the woman's quest to redefine herself after years of marriage to a Hollywood studio head.
Production is set to begin in Australia in the fourth quarter. Grazer, who recently split with her husband, producer Brian Grazer, will serve as an executive producer.
Messing won an Emmy in 2003 for her role as Grace Adler on Will & Grace, which recently ended its run on NBC.
Her upcoming films include director Curtis Hanson's Lucky You, alongside Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore, and Robert Duvall; and Purple Violets, directed by Edward Burns. Her other film credits include The Wedding Date and Along Came Polly.
