Designated Survivor Isn't Totally Dead Yet

Don't throw away those "Kirkman For Prez '19" posters yet! Kiefer Sutherland's political thriller Designated Survivor may survive its impeachment by ABC.

Netflix is in talks with international producer eOne about bringing the show into its fold, Deadline reports. The talks are very preliminary, but it does give hope to fans of the series who thought this week's Season 2 finale would be a series finale.

ABC canceled the series late last week as it prepped its new 2018-2019 fall TV schedule, citing low overnight ratings, behind-the-scenes turnover and its creative direction heading into the next season.

"Ultimately, we were less confident about the [show's] creative path forward than we were our other shows," ABC president Channing Dungey said on Tuesday.

While ratings were down in Season 2, the series still performed well in delayed viewing, something that is obviously of interest to Netflix. Netflix also owns the international streaming rights to the show, so it's very familiar with it.

Designated Survivor airs its Season 2 -- and possibly series -- finale on Wednesday, May 16 at 10/9c on ABC.

Of all the shows for Netflix to potentially revive, they choose this??

A show that had a great start but turned to shit half way through it's first season and never gained the momentum again - ugh

That would be awesome...they could rescue it like they did Longmire....I feel Designated Survivor would do well on Netflix.....at lest they could give it another season or two to wrap things up....It was one of the cancelled shows I was most upset about...I thought it was a good show...they could put this on their lineup to take the place of House of Cards....
