WARNING: This article contains spoilers for last night's episode of Desperate Housewives!
Last night's episode of Desperate Housewives, "Don't Walk on the Grass," was woefully underwhelming in the drama department, no? Bree (Marcia Cross) continued to be emotionally distraught over her affair with Susan's (Teri Hatcher) ex. Gabrielle (Eva Longoria Parker) continued to be a bad mother. Lynette (Felicity Huffman) continued to lie to her boss. And Susan continued her never-ending catfight with Katherine (Dana Delaney). It's all the same as last week ... and the week before that. Ever since the abortion debacle, the action on Wisteria Lane has been pretty dang borinzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Marc Cherry thinks he can fool us with the cheapest sensationalist tricks in the book -- Susan and Katherine's girl-on-girl bubble bath fight or the Solis' artfully-bleeped cuss words -- but it's not working. In fact, it's just poorly masking the season's overarching problem -- staleness. The last few episodes have basically been throwaways. Granted, it is Desperate Housewives, so maybe we shouldn't expect too much out of these grossly-exaggerated, overly-dramatic Wisteria Lane residents. Or should we?
Why aren't we seeing more of Orson (Kyle MacLachlan)? What about Lynette and Tom's (Doug Savant) kids? And Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen)? All these people could be helping the cause, but instead, we're stuck with a daunting rumor that the show may continue for, like, 34 more seasons. And then there's that elusive promise about the plane crash happening "sometime this season." Seriously, that's it?
Cherry added another housewife, Angie Bolen, to spice things up, and it was a good idea at the time. Drea de Matteo is an immensely talented, beautiful actress, and they've completely wasted her skills on a charisma-free character. She could be even sassier, even sexier, even more mysterious, but instead, she spouts uncreative dialogue and wears terribly unflattering clothes. Other than that, we've got three measly tidbits about her: She's got a fat scar, a few aliases, and a past bad enough to run from. After six episodes, shouldn't we know a little more than that? And shouldn't she have a better storyline than her grungy husband Nick (Jeffrey Nordling)? His liaison with Julie Mayer is just too interesting to be kept in the dark.
I guess it's time for some guest stars, Cherry. We're heading into November sweeps; let's revitalize this show before we start dreading the next few seasons altogether.

Disagree , maybe only need to see more of Angie BUT with time . Desperate House a7sn mn awl bkther ! ..
I dont really agree. I think its better than ever :D
I think Desperate Housewives is transitioning. To be fair so far the episodes have been bland and prrety much the same thing, week in week out since the second episode - but in all fair(view)ness that has always been the case since season two. I, personally am glad to see Julie back. am sad to se andrew go, and am thrilled that Lynette's aren't seen as much on wisteria lane anymore! True Dre's character could have a little more sass to her, and I just don't buy Julie's home wrecker persona but this is Desperate Housewives and 'Crazy' is amplified on this particular street.a few changes I'd like to see... Julie being more well, Julie. Angie being a more lucrative character - Edie is gone so we need a new beyatch! Katherine needs to die, like yesterday.... she is seriously boring me. Lynette NEEDS to have that abortion. This is a fact of our current times and Cherry shouldn't just shy away from that. If it causes controversy then so be it (screw what ABC say). Susan and Mike - well they are just the sweetest couple but Susan needs to lay off the crazy and mike needs to unknowingly get himself wrangled up into this season's mystery. Bree's storyline is the only one which I enjoy, her and Carl together just fit! and as for Orson well he should join Mary Alice and off himself too. His character just makes me feel sad. Finally, Gabby.... gabby gabby gabby! bringing John back was just a cry for help Cherry. In what universe would there be a restaurant in your neighborhood and only after about 5 years would you only happen to go eat there to find your ex lover owns the place - coincidentally during the same time your piece of work of a niece is living with you? tooooooo farfetched. if you liked john rowland you should have kept him on the show for the past 5 years! and lastly, gabby's kids need to be put on a diet. if gabby were a real person (self obsessed warts n all) there is no way in fairview-hell she would have two tubs of lard for kids!!!! she's put them up for adoption before she is seen in public with them. my problem with the show this season (and last), is that it realistically doesn't add up - ever! great drama, one of my favorite shows...but we need some realism peoplemoreless
I agree nothing new...
XO XO
:):):):)
Disagree
This is nothing new..
Every little thing they introduce has been in the series before in some form. People with skeletons in their closet move to Wisteria Lane, one of them steals a man from the other one, catfights, marital problems, husband-wife drama, clueless person is made fun of, parental issues, etc etc... I think they've reached a point where nothing can give it a hint of freshness. Much like Californication, this series is doomed to be more of the same allover again until someone puts it to rest. Sooner rather than later, I hope.
One thing I hate is that Angie doesn't really have much of a storyline. We see her pretty much at the end of each episode for about 30 seconds to get a new question. Why aren't we seeing her more? and I agree that they are doing the same storylines every episode and I want more Julie.
