Desperate teen gets a break

Cody Kasch, who plays troubled teen Zach on the hit ABC show Desperate Housewives, got a break when a Manhattan judge agreed to dismiss a marijuana possession case from his record. The judge stipulated that in order for the misdemeanor charge to be wiped from his permanent record, Kasch would have to return to court in one year's time and show that he had avoided any more trouble with the law.

Kasch had been picked up by police on May 17 in Manhattan's East Village, where he was living the life of an urban bohemian and allegedly smoking pot outside of a bar. The police arrested him, gave him a ticket, and released him.

"Cody was with a group of kids, and one of them was smoking pot, or was about to smoke a joint, when an undercover police officer arrested all of them," said Cody's manager at the time of the arrest.

Kasch should be able to easily avoid drugs while on the set of a Hollywood television show.
