Recognised nation-wide as the irreverent, frank "love-to-hate" TV personality, Dicko and the highly controversial series look to be a match made in heaven. At least, that's what producer, Andrew Denton of Zapruder's Other Films, is saying:
"When Dicko came to us earlier in the year about with the gem of an idea about a good , old-fashioned, shit-stirring piece of television, we knew he was onto something. He is very passionate about Can of Worms and we are very excited to be working with him".
However, will Dicko's controversial hosting style be as successful at addressing taboo social issues as it was in game shows like Australian Idol?
Zapruder's Other Films (The Gruen Transfer, Hungry Beast, Enough Rope), who will produce the series with Watercooler Media, have warned "If you're offended by honesty, Can of Worms is not a show for you".
In the past , we have had reality shows that gave us a mixed panel of "nice-guy" judges and the likes of the infamous Dicko.
TEN's chief programming officer speaks highly of Jacoby and the Zapruder's Other Films producer.
"Can of Worms is the perfect vehicle to see the return of Dicko to our screens. We have had a long and successful relationship and are genuinely pleased to be working together again on such a fantastic project."
"When Andrew, Anita and the guys from Watercooler Media came in to pitch the program to us, it was an immediate yes. It is fresh, bold and certainly addresses the elephant in the room. We love it!"
So, the question remains -- is Australia ready to open a potentially nasty Can of Worms?
Can of Worms will premiere in 2011 on TEN.
