Yesterday was a busy day for ABC--and not necessarily the good kind, either. The network finalized its midseason lineup, and though that meant great news for some shows, it also meant really, really bad news for others. One show on the short end of the stick is Dirty Sexy Money, the over-the-top drama revolving around socialites in New York.
According to online reports, DSM is D-O-N-E...canceled, kaput, canned. The decision comes on the heels of Dirty's disappointing season-two numbers, which failed to rebound after the writers strike forced the network to cut its debut season early. ABC opted to let it sit out the second half of last season and shoot for a relaunch this fall, but apparently viewers decided to move on.
Dirty Sexy Money stars Six Feet Under's Peter Krause as Nick George, a high-priced lawyer to one of New York City's wealthiest families, the Darlings. Of course, the Darlings are spoiled, often oblivious, and draped in scandal, and they use Nick for their errand boy. Meanwhile, Nick is on the quest to figure out how his father died, which may be tied to the Darlings.
ABC is planning to air all 13 episodes of Dirty Sexy Money produced this season.
This is sad news, given that DSM was a dirty, sexy, guilty pleasure of mine. Karen was my favorite Darling; who was yours?
