...Actor/writer Dan Futterman is developing a series for HBO called T, about a female-to-male transsexual. The series idea is based on a story from This American Life, so naturally Ira Glass is an executive producer. Casting wise, it's too bad Huffman's still tied up with Desperate Housewives. [Variety]
...Can't get enough of The Mentalist? Well, you're gonna get more of it! More of the same, that is. See, even though it's but a year and a few months old, TNT has already snapped up rerun rights from CBS, for a hearty $2+ million an episode. Once a week airings will begin in 2011, all-Mentalist, all the time gets going in 2012. [THR]
...Not only are we getting a new J.J. Abrams series, but now he's going to direct the pilot, just like he brilliantly did for Lost. Abrams has expressed interest in helming the first installment of NBC's Undercovers, a spy series cooked up in the nerd Valhalla that is Abrams' brain box. [THR]
...Huh. Much like people scratched their heads when Comedy Central misguidedly picked up that Holocaust miniseries, we're slightly confused by Cartoon Network's choice to green light two live-action series. Y'know, seeing as the word "cartoon" is in their name and all. But, oh well. Both series are about teen boys and mysteries. One, Tower Prep, is about a teen boy and mysteries at a prep school (the show is created by a Lost writer!), the other, Unnatural History, is about a teen boy and mysteries at the Museum of Natural History. So the network really should change its name to Cartoon & Teen Boy Mystery Series Network. Just rolls of the tongue. [Variety]
...A&E has greenlighted a series called Sugarloaf that's about a hardened city cop who moves to a small Florida town and... ho hum, yawn yawn. A&E will soon be changing their name to Not Art & Not Entertainment. Get it?? [THR]
...Whether you like it or not, whether you're ready after all these years, Numb3rs' days are probably... numbered. But take that hose out of the tailpipe and open the garage door! There is still some hope. Fans of the show will at least get closure, as the 16th and final episode of the season (and likely the series) will "be designed to stand as a finale, but it won't create story situations that would hamper us if the network should decide to order more episodes," according to the show's co-creator, Count von Count. Nunb3ers is one of my fav show but it has to end, each episode is becoming weaker day by day, so b4 it becomes unwatchable is better to end it.
upset about Eastwick, HBO has some great shows.
HBO make the worst and sluttiest series, disgusting."Undercovers"? Another spy series... And more crime solving series - boooooooring. Why so many of them and they cancel all the good ones? Eastwick was the ONLY witch series now and it was great = canceled. Dollhouse too...
Poor Numbers, another victim of bad TV exec decisions. Nobody seems to care what the fans want anymore.
As someone who was a huge fan of Numb3rs I have to say I'm glad they're yanking it off the air. In my humble opinion this show should have ended a season sooner. I mean the episodes just got weak and it morphed from a show that incorporated math principles to solve crimes into a general procedural show.
I just don't want Numb3rs to end, it's such a good show! No new ideas? Okay, just take a break. But don't leave us!
I am looking forward to seeing Undercovers from J.J.
Numbers dying! Why only the good show die when there is a lot of trash that can killed.
Personally I am just about fed up with the Networks taking all the good shows off the air. It seems as though all they want to do is keep adding Reality and shows where they Don't have to Pay for Real Actor's. Anything that SPONSOR'S PAY the tab on is what they are after. I just about cancelled my DIRECT TV yesterday. I decided that instead I'll wait until the last episode of Numb3r's. Then I'll cancell DIRECT, and save the money. The commercial's are too much ED related, and just trash. Not to mention too many. They even blast them on SCREEN DURING TV programs! Not worth the amount of money they want anymore. Then I'll sell my 52" TV. Screw all the networks. As it's going the computer will probably be next. I'm 60 now so I'll just stick with my Muscle Car's til I die and be happy with them like I used to be before all this crap came around. The muscle car era was the best anyway.moreless
Why? I LOVE numb3rs so much.. This is probably the best show I have ever seen. It just can't end. Just can't...
Maybe no more Numb3rs? Now that's just great...not! Whatta they gonna give us now... another crappy reality show?
it's a show for those of us who enjoyed math class
I love numb3rs it's one of the few shows other than bones that actually has some science to it.
Numbers always bored me.
Eh? It's ending, haven't seen that show in a while
At least they won't be giving a cliffhanger ending to the show if it ends up canceled.
No, I love numbers, I don't want it to end.
It can't end. It just can't!
Good that, at least, we will have a proper ending for Numb3rs and yes more Mentalist!!
oh man. i love numb3rs!
